Sales Operations Analysts are professionals who support an organization’s sales team by analyzing data, optimizing processes, and providing strategic insights. They handle tasks such as managing sales data, developing reports, forecasting sales trends, and improving sales processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Their work helps sales teams make informed decisions, set realistic targets, and identify opportunities for growth. By bridging the gap between sales, marketing, and operations, they play a crucial role in driving revenue and organizational success.

What does a sales operations analyst do?

A sales operations analyst works with sales teams to provide data on sales reports for their business or organization. Their job duties include creating sales reports, administering incentive-based compensation programs, and managing customer relationships. The qualifications to be a sales operations analyst include a high school diploma, although many employers prefer a post-secondary degree in business or a related field. Additional career qualifications include analytical and report skills and sales experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sales operations analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sales Operations Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a background in business, finance, or a related field, often supported by a bachelor’s degree. Job description

Description

Sales Operations Analyst

Piping Technology & Products, Inc.

Location: Houston, TX

Reports to: VP Sales & Marketing

Employment type: Full-time

No Sponsorship Opportunities Available

About Piping Technology & Products

Piping Technology & Products (PT&P) is a Houston-based manufacturer of engineered pipe supports,  expansion joints, and related products, serving the petrochemical, refining, power generation, and industrial  construction markets for nearly five decades. Our products - from spring hangers and snubbers to  insulated supports and custom fabrications - are engineered to order and manufactured in our Houston  facilities, supporting projects for plants, EPCs, and contractors worldwide.

About the Role

We're hiring a Sales Operations Analyst to be the analytical engine of our sales organization. You'll own the  reporting that tells us how the sales team is performing, mine our sales and customer data to surface the  next best opportunities, and run targeted outbound campaigns that keep the top of the funnel full. Because  our products are engineered and manufactured to order, you'll also be the connective tissue between sales  and the shop floor - tracking key orders through manufacturing so account owners and customers always  know where things stand. This is a hands-on role with direct exposure to sales leadership. Your analysis will inform quotas, targets, and  where we focus our selling effort. It's an ideal seat for an analytically minded self-starter who wants to learn  how an industrial sales organization really works - and to use modern AI tools to do the work of a much  larger team.

Responsibilities

Sales performance and effectiveness reporting

Build and maintain recurring reporting on sales performance and effectiveness - quote and order  volume, conversion rates, quota attainment, and productivity - delivered in clear, decision-ready  formats for sales leadership

Trend analysis

Report on sales trends by rep, by customer, and by customer segment, identifying patterns in  performance over time and flagging changes that need leadership attention

Opportunity mining

Mine sales and customer data to identify growth opportunities by customer segment - defined by  company size, industry vertical (e.g., petrochemical, refining, power, EPC/construction), and business  type (e.g., end user, EPC, contractor, distributor) - or by individual customer, including whitespace,  cross-sell, and reorder candidates

Targeted lead generation

Execute targeted lead generation campaigns via email: build segmented prospect lists, draft and send  campaigns, track response and conversion, and feed qualified leads to the sales team

Funnel assessment

Assess the overall sales funnel from lead generation through close - measuring conversion and  velocity at each stage from inquiry to quote to order, identifying where prospects stall or drop out, and  recommending fixes

Order status reporting

Report on the status of key customer orders in manufacturing, keeping sales leadership and account  owners informed on production timelines and flagging risks to delivery commitments early

Quota and target setting

Partner with sales leadership to set quotas and overall targets for the sales organization, and own the  ongoing reporting of performance against those targets

Requirements

Background Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree - ideally in finance or data analytics

2. Previous sales operations experience is a plus, but not required

3. Must be a self-starter with comfort leveraging AI tools to accelerate analysis, reporting, and campaign  work

Skills That Will Help You Succeed

Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills; experience with a CRM or ERP system is a plus Comfort working with imperfect data and structuring ambiguous questions into measurable analysis Clear written communication - you can turn a spreadsheet into a story leadership can act on

Organized and reliable with recurring deliverables; you keep the reporting cadence running without  being chased

Interest in industrial products and manufacturing; prior exposure to energy, petrochemical, or  construction markets is a plus but not expected

Compensation & Benefits

$72,299 - $82,157/annually

Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, PTO, Paid Holidays, 401k
