Job Description Position: Pastry Chef Department: Culinary Employment Category: Seasonal FLSA Status : Non exempt Requirement: MS Word proficiency Reports To: Executive Chef Supervises: No supervisory duties Job Summary The Pastry Chef of the Hyannisport Club requires an individual to be professional and of a positive attitude, polite with excellent communication skills. Maintains a neat professional uniformed appearance and observes personal cleanliness rules. The Pastry Chef is responsible for all pastry/dessert production for the dining rooms and functions at the club.

Develops pastry-related recipes and ingredient purchase specifications. Creates pastry items for club events such as buffets and receptions. Creates weekly dessert menu for both bistro and fine dining outlets.

Maintains highest professional food quality and sanitation standards. Job Duties: Key Accountabilities: Operational Management: The Pastry Chef designs and produces weekly dessert menus. The Pastry Chef will be required to accept and put away deliveries which will require lifting cases of food and food service products.

The Pastry Chef plans, prepares and decorates special pastry items as necessary. Develops bake shop recipes and techniques for pastry production. Produces baked items for the snack bar operation.

Consults with Executive Chef concerning banquet event orders. Plans pastry-related aspects of club events and private banquets. Attends regular meetings with Executive Chef and/or other managers and employees.

Requisitions all products and supplies needed for the pastry department. Oversees inventory and ordering of breads and ice creams. Controls food and supply waste.

Ensures that high standards of sanitation and cleanliness are maintained. Evaluates bake shop products to assure that quality standards are consistently attained. Staff Management: Advises and demonstrates to the culinary staff the reproduction of plated desserts.

Trains and supervises any other personal working in the bakeshop.
