The Role: Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others and independently oversee and perform mail services. Additionally, will perform some functions of receiving, shipping center which will include the transfer and delivery of equipment, merchandise, materials and supplies. Job Duties Mail Processing Center - Circulate post and parcels from USPS, and various transportation companies.
- Operate mail processing equipment.
- Coordinate regular mail equipment maintenance with vendor(s). Verify and ensure USPS standards are met.
- Coordinate with multiple departments to pre-plan large mailings and other requests.
- Resolve department conflicts to ensure their success.
- Ensure rigorous delivery schedule is completed on time.
- Provide a safe, clean, and well-organized working environment.
- Responsible for scheduling vehicles and equipment maintenance.
- Receives, schedules and oversees all courier packages (UPS, FED EX, etc.).
- Review department and institutional rules and regulations concerning mail operations and recommend changes and improvements to system and or processes.
- Overseeing students' routes and activities.
- Reconciling billing reports.
- May be required to drive a university owned vehicle.
Lead Duties - Assign and check work and provide training. May provide feedback to supervisor to assist with work assignments and job performance.
Shipping and Receiving Center - Assists customers at warehouse service centers and all extended customer service locations.
- Release stock inventory and special orders to applicable personnel using automated work order system software.
- Prepares outgoing stock orders for university and housing departments.
- Delivers stock, special and downtown orders to appropriate department or construction location.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Possession of valid driver's license.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to obtain forklift operator's license within 6 months of hire.
- Experience performing basic computer functions, such as spreadsheet and word processing.
- Demonstrated ability and/or experience working collaboratively with students and/or colleagues to foster supportive and effective learning and work environment.
- OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Preferred Qualifications - Two years of experience in a mail service production environment.
- Experience operating various lifts and/or forklifts.
- Experience operating mail/courier processing and distribution equipment.
- Experience operating and processing receiving/shipping systems and equipment.
- Ability to incorporate a variety of perspectives and relevant societal issues into everyday conversations.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule Salary : This position is based on the range 40 of the Washington State Classification Listing, which has a minimum annual salary of $42,972 and maximum annual salary of $57,252. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
Schedule/Appointment : Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm (1 hour lunch) / WFSE Bargaining Unit 1
Working Conditions : Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required.
This position may work indoors and outdoors at times in hot/cold/noisy/dirty/wet areas, as well as a dusty warehouse. Requires frequent lifting of heavy loads. Will operate forklifts and pallet-jacks. Will be trained to handle hazardous equipment and products. Will participate in inventory processes.
