Job description

Milton Hershey School (MHS) is one of the world's best pre-K through 12th grade private schools, where approximately 2,200 students from disadvantaged backgrounds are provided with a cost-free home and a top-notch career-focused education.  Thanks to the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey in 1909, the school is fully endowed today, with the resources to ensure students can thrive.  The school has prepared over 12,000 graduates to lead fulfilling and productive lives and is expanding to serve more students for future generations.

MHS is seeking two Recruiters to attract, assess, and contribute to the selection of high-caliber talent who will advance the school's mission and positively impact future generations. Serving as trusted talent acquisition advisors, Recruiters partner closely with hiring leaders to develop recruiting strategies, identify exceptional candidates, facilitate rigorous selection processes, and provide workforce insights to support critical hiring decisions.  This position offers an opportunity to influence the quality of talent across MHS while helping ensure students are supported by caring, capable, and mission-driven adults of high integrity.

This is an onsite, year-round position that offers a salary range of $63,028 - $84,142 plus an exceptional benefits package. This is more than a recruiting position.  Every hiring decision directly impacts the quality, safety, and effectiveness of the adults entrusted to support students. Recruiters at MHS help shape the workforce that serves students both today and for the future, while contributing to one of the nation's most distinctive residential educational environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage high volume full-cycle recruitment activities including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, and onboarding support.

  • Lead multiple concurrent searches while maintaining exceptional standards for candidate quality, mission alignment, and diversity.

  • Partner with hiring managers to clarify needs and develop effective talent acquisition strategies.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor on recruiting best practices, labor market trends, talent availability, and candidate assessment.

  • Design and facilitate structured interview and evaluation processes that identify candidates with the skills, values, and commitment needed to succeed in MHS's unique residential educational environment.

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, school policies, safeguarding requirements, and hiring procedures.

  • Build and maintain talent pipelines through networking, referrals, sourcing initiatives, and relationship development.

  • Analyze metrics and workforce data to support forecasting, workforce planning, and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Deliver a positive and engaging experience for candidates and hiring managers throughout the process.

  • Represent MHS at recruiting events, community outreach programs, career fairs, and networking opportunities.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve critical staffing priorities and strategic hiring goals.

  • Participate in evening and weekend recruiting events as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, psychology, or a related field required.

  • Three or more years of talent acquisition experience required; experience as a Milton Hershey School Houseparent may be considered in lieu of recruiting experience for one of the roles.

  • Experience managing high-volume recruiting processes and multiple concurrent searches.

  • Strong interviewing, assessment, and candidate evaluation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and provide consultative guidance.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience utilizing recruiting metrics and reporting tools.

  • Commitment to diversity and fair hiring practices.

  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, discernment and discretion.

  • Skilled in leveraging applicant tracking systems, CRM platforms, HR technologies, Microsoft applications, social media, and AI-enabled tools.

  • Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and professionalism as all MHS employees are expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct.

  • Eagerness to actively engage with students and support the mission of Milton Hershey School.
