Our client who is a manufacturer of specialized machinery and equipment serving industries that demand the highest levels of precision in metal surface finishing are seeking a detail-oriented Proposal Engineer to join their growing team in Irwin, PA.

This role blends engineering, technical sales support, and project coordination, and is ideal for someone who enjoys working cross-functionally to develop technical proposals to help bring equipment solutions to customers.


Position Overview

The Proposal Engineer is responsible for developing cost estimates and detailed proposals for capital equipment, tooling, and aftermarket upgrades. This role works closely with engineering, sales, operations, and service teams to ensure proposals are technically sound, competitively priced, and aligned with customer requirements.

In addition to proposal development, this position helps coordinate activities related to tooling build projects and aftermarket upgrades, ensuring projects move efficiently from quotation through execution.


Key Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate Requests for Quote (RFQs) from customers.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, service, operations, and shipping teams to develop accurate cost estimates and proposals.
  • Prepare detailed technical and commercial proposals for capital equipment, tooling, and aftermarket upgrades.
  • Support the Technical Sales and Applications teams in analyzing customer applications to determine the appropriate machine models and tooling concepts.
  • Assist in coordinating activities related to tooling builds and upgrade projects to ensure timely and efficient fulfillment.
  • Provide engineering and technical support to the sales team during the proposal and pre-sales process.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure all proposals and project records are properly managed.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Participate in training and perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Preferred experience working within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred experience with engineering design software such as Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
