Job description

Technical Proposal Writer
Astor & Sanders Corporation (Astor) is an award-winning IT solutions provider headquartered in McLean, VA seeking a Technical Proposal Writer. This is a full-time and hybrid position.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop compliant, compelling content for government solicitations, including RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs, with a focus on technical solution and approach narratives
  • Work directly with technical project staff and subject matter experts to gather, clarify, and translate technical input into proposal-ready content
  • Lead or support SME interviews and working sessions to draw out technical details, delivery examples, customer benefits, and mission impact
  • Organize and prepare information and data to write a variety of technical publications, including white papers, for a Federal Government audience requiring in-depth knowledge and understanding of information technology (IT) and management consulting services.
  • Incorporate win themes, customer benefits, strengths, differentiators, proof points, and relevant examples into technical proposal content
  • Clearly communicate the proposed solution, delivery approach, and value to the customer’s mission and operations
  • Improve proposal readability by using clear and concise headings, bullets, tables, callout boxes, graphics/visuals, and other scannable formats
  • Review and edit proposal content for clarity, compliance, persuasiveness, and alignment with win themes
  • Manage multiple proposal writing and editing assignments simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 1+ years’ experience in proposal writing, technical writing, editing, communications, or related professional writing
  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, or a technology field
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to learn, with a strong interest in contributing to a winning culture and growing within the company
  • Analytical mindset to interpret government solicitations, identify key response requirements, and support compliant proposal development
  • Strong writing, editing, research, collaboration, and critical thinking skills
  • Familiar with MS Word, SharePoint, Teams, or proposal collaboration tools

The range of annual salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that pay offered is based on factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of position, candidate's work experience and skillset, and location.

Annual Salary Range:

$65,000-$80,000
