What is a temporary recruiter?

Temporary recruiters are human resources professionals who are hired on a short-term basis to assist organizations with their hiring needs. They may work as part of a staffing agency or be brought in directly by companies during periods of high recruitment activity, such as seasonal hiring or rapid expansion. Their responsibilities typically include sourcing candidates, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and coordinating the hiring process, all within a set contract period. Temporary recruiters help companies efficiently fill positions without the commitment of hiring a permanent HR staff member. They bring flexibility and expertise to organizations looking to quickly scale or manage fluctuating recruitment demands.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temporary recruiter?

To thrive as a Temporary Recruiter, you need a solid understanding of talent acquisition, candidate screening, and employment law, usually supported by experience in recruiting or HR. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), HRIS platforms, and sourcing tools like LinkedIn Recruiter is typically required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, adaptability, and strong organizational abilities help build relationships with both candidates and hiring managers. These skills ensure efficient hiring processes, effective candidate placement, and the ability to quickly meet organizational staffing needs.

How does a temporary recruiter typically collaborate with hiring managers during the recruitment process?

As a Temporary Recruiter, you will work closely with hiring managers to understand their specific talent needs and the nuances of each open position. This collaboration often involves regular check-ins to review candidate pipelines, discuss feedback from interviews, and adjust sourcing strategies as needed. Effective communication and responsiveness are key, as the fast-paced nature of temporary recruitment requires quick turnarounds and alignment with the hiring team's expectations. Building trust and maintaining transparency with hiring managers helps ensure successful placements within tight deadlines.

Job description

Job Title: Bilingual Recruiter (1 Day on site)
Job Description
This temporary-to-permanent role offers an opportunity for a bilingual recruiter to manage full-cycle recruiting for light industrial, warehouse, and manufacturing positions. The recruiter works predominantly remotely, with periodic onsite visits to the Indianapolis office, and is responsible for handling a high volume of requisitions while partnering closely with hiring leaders to deliver timely, quality hires.
Responsibilities
  • Manage a requisition load of approximately 20-25 open positions at any given time, ensuring consistent progress and timely fills.
  • Recruit for light industrial and related roles, including machine operators, warehouse associates, forklift operators, shipping staff, customer service representatives, scale operators, and other similar positions.
  • Conduct thorough requisition intake meetings with hiring managers to clarify role requirements, expectations, and timelines.
  • Communicate proactively and clearly with leadership and hiring managers to provide updates on candidate pipelines, challenges, and hiring progress.
  • Source candidates using platforms such as Indeed, LinkedIn, job boards, and the internal applicant tracking system (ATS), ensuring a steady flow of qualified applicants.
  • Perform full-cycle recruiting activities, including sourcing, screening, scheduling, and coordinating interviews for onsite meetings with hiring teams.
  • Screen candidates to assess skills, experience, and fit for light industrial and warehouse roles, and move qualified candidates efficiently through the hiring process.
  • Turn requisitions around quickly by prioritizing urgent roles, managing competing demands, and maintaining a strong sense of urgency.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the ATS, ensuring all candidate and requisition information is up to date.
  • Support high-volume hiring periods by flexing work hours as needed, including occasionally working until 6:00 p.m. EST during peak seasons.

Essential Skills
  • At least 2 recent years of experience recruiting for light industrial, warehouse, or manufacturing roles.
  • Proven experience managing 20 or more requisitions at one time in a high-volume recruiting environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English, with the ability to communicate effectively with candidates and hiring stakeholders in both languages.
  • Demonstrated success in quickly filling requisitions and meeting aggressive hiring timelines.
  • Recruiting experience within manufacturing, distribution, or staffing/agency environments.
  • Recent experience recruiting light industrial skill sets such as warehouse associates, machine operators, forklift operators, and material handlers.
  • Hands-on experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and other recruitment tools.
  • Strong full-cycle recruiting skills, including sourcing, screening, interviewing coordination, and offer facilitation.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with leaders and hiring managers.
  • Ability to work within Eastern Standard Time hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with flexibility to extend hours during peak hiring periods.
  • Residence within a three-hour commuting distance of Indianapolis to support periodic onsite work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience using major job boards and professional networking platforms such as Indeed and LinkedIn for candidate sourcing.
  • Experience in talent acquisition, recruitment, and hiring within light industrial and warehouse environments.
  • Familiarity with managing candidate pipelines and workflows within applicant tracking systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple requisitions and deadlines.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining documentation, candidate records, and communication logs.
  • Comfort working in a metrics-driven environment and adapting to performance expectations.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and adjust to evolving hiring needs.

Work Environment
The role is predominantly remote, with standard working hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday. During peak hiring seasons, the recruiter may need to work some days until 6:00 p.m. EST to support high-volume requisitions. The position requires periodic onsite presence at the Indianapolis office, so the recruiter must live within approximately a three-hour commute of Indianapolis. Onsite visits typically occur after the initial training period and once the recruiter demonstrates strong performance, reliable communication, and solid documentation practices. The work environment relies heavily on digital tools, including job boards, professional networking platforms, and an internal applicant tracking system, to manage sourcing, screening, and interview coordination in a primarily remote setting.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
