Dixon Ticonderoga Company is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join our team. The Dixon Ticonderoga Company is headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Procurement Manager, the Purchasing Assistant sources and purchases items/ services for the Company at the best value while maintaining the correct levels of inventory of raw and/or finished products.
Essential Functions:
  • Maintain and forecast inventory levels of assigned products lines and raw materials.
  • Work cooperatively as part of the procurement team and with functional areas, as required, ensuring timely delivery of goods to customers.
  • Notify suppliers of material requirements and coordinate deliveries to ensure manufacturing and customer service have adequate levels.
  • Utilize data to assist with supplier performance.
  • Prepare quotation requests.
  • PO/requisitions for parts, raw materials, supplies, and other goods.
  • Prepare purchase orders, maintain orderly reports including manual and electronic filing systems.
  • Assist Accounting with resolving price discrepancies and inventory errors.
  • Assist in creating internal work orders and handling the outsourcing mechanics with manufacturing as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Good working knowledge of the procurement process and general customer/supplier (internal and external) interfacing principles
  • Strong computer skills (Excel/Word -- SAP Procurement module is a plus)
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Material Replenishment Planning system (SAP preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be thorough and accurate
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Ability to understand and implement customer requirements

Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred

Working Conditions:
  • The employee will experience normal working conditions where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, and other related elements.
