Job description

Position Summary:

The Rapid Group is seeking a highly organized and responsive Purchasing Assistant to support the daily purchasing needs of our field technicians, shops, and office operations. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, urgency, communication, and follow-through.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and issue POs for materials, equipment, rentals, supplies, and services.
  • Process emergency, field, shop, and sameday orders, including verbal PO requests from technicians in the field.
  • Source materials and supplies needed to keep jobs moving and minimize technician downtime.
  • Coordinate equipment rentals including forklifts, scissor lifts, lulls, specialized tools, and other jobsite equipment.
  • Arrange dumpsters, diesel fuel deliveries, portable toilets, and other jobsite services.
  • Track deliveries and follow up on late, incomplete, damaged, or incorrect shipments.
  • Communicate regularly with vendors regarding pricing, availability, production, and shipping.
  • Match invoices to POs and receiving documentation and investigate pricing or quantity discrepancies.
  • Process routine company credit card purchases, including daily Home Depot purchases.
  • Order shop supplies and consumables through vendors such as Grainger and office supplies through Staples, Amazon, and other approved vendors.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
  • Qualifications:
  • 13 years of purchasing, procurement, construction, service operations, or logistics experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and followup skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and urgent requests in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with BuildOps is a plus.
  • Comfortable communicating with vendors, technicians, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience in construction, industrial, mechanical, electrical, or field service environments is a plus.
