Job Description
Job Title: Purchasing Agent
*THIS IS A SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION*
Job Overview: The Purchasing Agent will mainly be responsible for negotiating prices with vendors and contractors. This individual will also be working closely with various departments in the plant to ensure availability of equipment. This role will report directly to the plant manager.

Job Responsibilities
  • Analyze markets, material availability, pricing, and supplier conditions to develop cost-effective procurement strategies.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors and suppliers for materials, equipment, services, and supplies.
  • Implement and maintain purchasing, procurement, and contract management policies and procedures.
  • Develop equipment, product, and material specifications and identify suitable alternatives when needed.
  • Prepare and process requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, and supplier documentation in accordance with company policies.
  • Monitor purchase orders and supplier performance to ensure materials and equipment are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Resolve vendor and contractor issues, including grievances, claims, and purchase order discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, receiving, inventory, and supplier records, including online purchasing systems.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Team to procure spare parts and support maintenance activities and plant operations.
  • Support inventory control, surplus material disposal, and HSE audit requirements, including internal and external reporting.

Job Requirements
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a purchasing-related field preferred, or equivalent work experience demonstrating relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Must have at least 5 years of working experience in a related role
  • Must have experience using ERP systems
  • Must have experience working in a manufacturing setting
  • Must be able to collaborate with multiple individuals or departments
  • Highly effective time management and task prioritization abilities
  • Strong organizational skills
