Job Description:
Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:
We are currently seeking a full-time, on-site Procurement Agent in our Purchasing departmentThis position will procure goods and services as requested by university departments in accordance with institutional, state, and federal statutes and policies by selecting suppliers and methods of purchase, by negotiating terms and pricing, and committing university resources. The annual pay for this position is $48,800.04.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop requests for proposals and quotes, evaluate responses, and execute orders for purchases.
  • Determine method of purchase and payment.
  • Analyze departmental purchasing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all applicable laws and policies.
  • Develop and provide basic and advanced requester and business office training for the online Purchasing system to meet the needs of the end user and their departments.
  • Analyze, investigate and interpret various purchasing reports for appropriate resolution utilizing University systems in consultation with departments, Business Office staff, Accounts Payable, and vendor office staff.
  • Educate, communicate and interpret purchasing procedures and policies to university staff and vendors.
  • Advise university staff on methods and sources available for making needed purchases.
  • Familiarize university staff in academic and administrative departments with university purchasing policies, licensing issues, and state purchasing statutes when applicable.
  • Inform vendors of university purchasing methods and policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 3 years experienced in Purchasing and/or SAP.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate information and solve problems.
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills and the ability to exercise.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS/BA.
  • 5 years experienced in Purchasing and/or SAP.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to purchasing and understanding of university procurement policies, methods and tools.
  • General accounting knowledge.
  • University experience with accounting processes, experience with ERP system and experience working with students.
