Rosie's Place was founded in 1974 as the first women's shelter in the United States. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to help poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity, and find security in their lives.   


Over the years, we have become much more than a shelter. We are a multi-service community center that not only provides meals and shelter but also creates answers for thousands of women a year through wide-ranging support, housing, and education services. Rosie's Place relies on the generous support of individuals, foundations, and corporations and does not accept any city, state or federal funding. 


OPPORTUNITY:

The Development Associate reports to the Director of Annual Fund. This role supports the fundraising and external relations efforts of the organization by providing administrative, logistical and donor-facing support. The Development Associate position is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who enjoys relationship-building, managing multiple priorities, and contributing to a mission-driven team. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the growth of Rosie's Place Annual Fund programs and other fundraising goals.  
  • Lead the Young Professionals Network of Rosie's Place with the goal of growing membership, engagement and revenue. 
  • Manage and promote tribute gifts, monthly/recurring giving program, employee giving and workplace matching gift programs to grow participation and revenue. 
  • Provide donor cultivation support and deliver responsive, high quality donor customer service.  
  • Provide administrative support to the Major Gifts and Corporate/Foundation Giving teams, including preparing mailings and advancing other donor initiatives within those programs. 
  • Conduct prospect research. 
  • Support special events and other fundraising efforts by assisting with securing in-kind donations, managing guest data, creating signage and certificates and generating reporting and analytics as needed. 
  • Process and acknowledge gifts from special events and other appeals ensuring accurate record entry in the fundraising database.  
  • Support logistics of appeals, mailings, and online campaigns. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Annual Fund.

  • Proficiency in Raiser's Edge/NXT or other fundraising database systems preferred.  
  • Demonstrate computer competency in Microsoft Office programs, and capacity to learn new software systems. 
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and take initiative. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to represent Rosie's Place professionally with a variety of stakeholders 
  • Strong customer service mindset with effective and diplomatic, yet supportive communication style. 

WORK EXPECTATIONS  

We are a hands-on team and seek employees who are passionate about our work and service to our community. The Development Associate is a full-time, exempt position. While the Development Associate is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, they must work on-site at Rosie's Place during part of their work week and engage regularly with staff, guests, and volunteers. They are also expected to be flexible with their in-person days to participate in organization events and other work obligations. This position may require travel between Rosie's Place facilities and community locations. 


We adopt safety protocols related to public health as we understand them, which all employees must follow. Among these protocols, we require all employees to be up to date with their yearly vaccinations. Requests for exemptions are considered.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The starting salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 commensurate with experience.
