Job Details:
Purpose
Research and development of real-time processing software applications for sonar and underwater acoustics including algorithm design, implementation, verification, and performance analysis in the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, test and verify real-time software for sonar applications.
  • Build test, and install software for tactical sonar systems in a real acoustic environment at the Lake Travis Test Station and offsite contractor locations.
  • Integration of software components with tactical sonar systems.
  • Document and present work performed.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics.
  • Demonstrated ability using object-oriented programming languages.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving background.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, data structures, and algorithm performance analysis.
  • Experience with C++ and Python.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and basic administration.

Evidence of skills in the following areas: working with new technologies, being highly organized, planning and coordinating multiple tasks, effective time management, attention to detail, effective problem solving skills, using excellent judgment, working independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintaining a professional demeanor, working as a team member without daily supervision, effectively communicating with all groups of clients, working under pressure, accepting supervision and demonstrating regular/punctual attendance.
US Citizen: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least two years' experience with C/C++ programming and Python as well as familiarity with Linux shells such as bash.
  • Experience developing scientific software applications and graphing sensor data in Matplotlib or MATLAB.
  • Experience with CMake and git revision control in the Unix/Linux environment. .
  • Familiarity with computer network design and configurations using TCP/IP over Ethernet.
  • Experience installing Linux operating systems and basic network configuration.
  • GUI design experience.
  • Experience with containerized applications and deployment/package managers such as Kubernetes.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 with at least a 3.2 in relevant coursework.
