A development director is responsible for fundraising strategies and initiatives to help promote the business and operations of nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and hospitals. As a development director, your job duties include reaching out to potential benefactors, maintaining relationships with existing donors, devising new strategies for fundraising, and organizing fundraising events. These events may consist of benefit concerts, dinners, parties, and special events. Collaborating with company management is also a regular part of your job. Depending on the organization, your exact duties may vary.
| Aspect | Development Director | Fundraising Manager |
|---|---|---|

The Development Director typically holds a strategic leadership role, overseeing the entire development department and long-term fundraising goals. In contrast, the Fundraising Manager focuses on executing specific campaigns and managing day-to-day donor activities. Both roles require similar credentials and work in similar environments, but the Development Director has broader responsibilities and higher-level oversight.

Summary
The Development Director serves as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and provides strategic leadership for New Life Center’s fundraising, donor engagement, volunteer engagement, and community partnership efforts. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising and engagement strategy that generates contributed revenue, deepens supporter engagement, and expands opportunities for individuals, churches, businesses, and community partners to engage in the mission of New Life Center through giving, serving, and prayer.

Through authentic relationships, compelling vision casting, prayer, and faithful stewardship, this role invites supporters into deeper involvement in the life-transforming work of Jesus Christ among those experiencing homelessness and hardship. The Development Director models Christ-centered leadership while advancing the mission, sustainability, and long-term impact of New Life Center.
At New Life Center, our work is rooted in our Christian faith and driven by our mission to guide people experiencing homelessness or addiction toward holistic transformation through the love of Jesus. Every role contributes to this ministry and advances our shared vision. Our team members are followers of Jesus Christ, affirm our Statement of Faith, and demonstrate our BEACON values—Bring Your Best, Engage with Empathy, Act in Unity, Choose Humility, Offer Hope, and Never Stop Growing—in the way they serve guests, support one another, and represent New Life Center each day.
