Temple Beth Sholom (TBS) is a welcoming and inclusive sacred community that connects its members to one another, Judaism, and Israel through interactive spiritual, educational, and social experiences. We are a Conservative synagogue consisting of more than nine hundred families. In addition to its clergy and staff, TBS has many groups and committees that immerse congregants of all ages in Jewish life and learning.
We are seeking a full-time onsite Development Associate for direct hire. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Associate will work in partnership with, and support for, the Executive Director, Senior Rabbi, and lay leadership on all development/fundraising/stewardship activities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assisting with donor stewardship, including:
o Generate and mail thank you letters for all donations.
o Send correspondence to families acknowledging the impact of their endowment fund.
o Generate and mail clergy thank you letters for donations made to their tzedakah funds.
o Work with Sponsorship Chair, Plus Giving chair, and committees on implementing activities as scheduled in stewardship calendar.
• Maintaining donor activity in our ShulCloud database, including:
o Document donations and endowment fund pledges.
o Maintain donor contact lists and giving history and generating reports as needed.
• Assisting with synagogue events and programs, including:
o Attend and support major synagogue events and programs.
o Provide administrative and logistical support for events and programs, in partnership with events and programming committees.
o Prepare materials for donor stewardship (swag bags at major events, sending post event photos and thank you letters to participants, etc.).
• Administrative support, including:
o Generate monthly lists of congregants upcoming milestone birthdays and anniversaries.
o Generate mailing labels and mailing birthday cards.
o Outreach to Community Life Book advertisers regarding renewal of their ads.
o Maintain participant list for our Life & Legacy planned giving program.
o Support the work of the Funds Development Committee as needed.
o Coordinate promotion of naming rights and annual sponsorship opportunities.
o Assist with collecting information for the creation of the TBS Annual Report.
Experience, Qualifications, and Requirements:
• BA/BS degree and 3-5 years’ experience with administrative support in development, stewardship, community engagement, or similar.
• Self-starter who can multi-task, who can work in a team, and who is computer proficient.
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Microsoft Teams and Google Workspace preferred.
• Knowledge of ShulCloud and synagogue operations is a plus.
• Must be able to interact well with staff, clergy, donors, and potential donors.
• Demonstrated experience in successfully working with individuals and with groups.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of Judaism, Jewish culture, customs, and holidays a plus.
