As we continue to grow, we are seeking a highly organized and proactive Customer Project Planner to join our operations team.

The Opportunity

The Customer Project Planner plays a vital role in ensuring customer orders are planned, scheduled, and delivered on time while balancing production capacity, inventory levels, and operational efficiency.

This position serves as a key link between customers, sales, production, materials management, and operations. You will coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, develop production schedules, monitor plant capacity, manage inventory levels, and drive on-time delivery performance.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex scheduling challenges, working cross-functionally with multiple departments, and making a direct impact on customer satisfaction and plant performance.

What You'll Be DoingProduction Planning & Scheduling
  • Develop and manage production schedules across multiple manufacturing departments to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate production priorities and adjust schedules based on plant capacity, material availability, and customer demand.
  • Monitor production progress and identify potential delays or bottlenecks before they impact delivery schedules.
  • Issue weekly capacity and load reports and provide planning recommendations.
  • Review shop orders and establish production priorities to support on-time completion.
  • Monitor order execution and make schedule adjustments as necessary.
Customer & Project Management
  • Work closely with sales and operations teams to establish realistic customer promise dates.
  • Manage customer projects from order entry through shipment.
  • Communicate project status, delivery updates, and recovery plans to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Coordinate multiple customer projects simultaneously while maintaining schedule commitments.
  • Prioritize projects and resources to meet customer expectations.
Inventory & Materials Management
  • Develop and maintain inventory control practices that reduce shortages and excess inventory.
  • Monitor inventory levels, safety stock requirements, and lot sizes.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through oversight of shop floor transactions.
  • Plan material movement through production to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Coordinate material, equipment, and manpower requirements for production orders.
Continuous Improvement & Operations Support
  • Partner with department leaders to improve efficiency, productivity, and throughput.
  • Assist in controlling production costs while maintaining quality standards.
  • Evaluate and support cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
  • Provide scheduling and production data through ERP systems.
  • Assist with subcontract planning when capacity constraints require additional resources.
  • Support departmental goals related to safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and financial performance.
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote a strong safety culture through observation, coaching, and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, environmental requirements, and safety regulations.
  • Support adherence to operational procedures and collective bargaining agreements where applicable.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and project coordination skills.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, production planning, materials planning, supply chain, or operations environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing, foundry, production planning, or operations experience.
  • Knowledge of metal casting, foundry operations, or industrial manufacturing processes.
  • APICS certification or related supply chain/planning credentials.
  • Experience using Odyssey ERP or similar manufacturing ERP systems.
  • Understanding of inventory management, production control, and capacity planning.
