Job Overview

The Nakoa Companies Inc. is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager to oversee complex commercial and government construction projects across Hawaii, Guam, Japan, and other locations in the Pacific Rim. This full-time, on-site position is ideal for someone with strong leadership, planning, and communication skills who thrives in a dynamic, international environment. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of project execution under the guidance of a Program or Operations Manager, ensuring successful delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects from start to finish.

  • Serve as the main point of contact with clients to clarify and align on project deliverables.

  • Track project performance, ensuring budgets, schedules, and quality standards are met.

  • Prepare contracts and negotiate changes with subcontractors, general contractors, and clients.

  • Produce and submit daily reports to clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Resolve project-related challenges promptly and professionally.

  • Oversee procurement processes, including material quotes, purchase orders, and reconciliations.

  • Prepare and submit all required submittals; resolve discrepancies between submittals and specs.

  • Develop detailed work plans and project schedules.

  • Create monthly pay estimates for project billing.

  • Ensure all team members are properly certified for their assigned tasks and site access.

Qualifications
  • 57 years of experience in general construction, with preference for federal contracting experience.

  • Proven background in project management and project engineering (both office and field).

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

  • Strong administrative, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; Japanese language skills a plus.

  • Experience with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects is desirable.

Other Requirements
  • Must pass a 5-panel drug screen (federal contracting requirement).

  • Must be eligible for access to military facilities.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
