Job description

Part-Time Split Shift | Ark Academy

Position Summary

Ark Academy is seeking an energetic, dependable, and organized Before & After School Coordinator to lead our growing school-age program. This position is perfect for someone who loves working with elementary-aged children, enjoys staying active, and is comfortable taking ownership of a fun and engaging environment.

The coordinator will oversee our before and after school program, safely transport children to and from local schools using the Ark Academy van, and create a positive, Christ-centered atmosphere where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn.


Schedule

This is a split-shift position.

Typical Hours

  • Morning: 6:30 AM – 8:30 AM
  • Afternoon: 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM

Additional hours may be available on:

  • No-school days
  • Early dismissals
  • Summer program
  • Staff meetings and training

ResponsibilitiesTransportation
  • Safely transport children to and from local elementary schools using the Ark Academy company van.
  • Complete daily vehicle safety inspections.
  • Ensure children are loaded and unloaded safely.
  • Maintain accurate attendance during transportation.
  • Follow all state licensing and transportation regulations.
  • Keep the company vehicle clean, fueled, and ready for use.
Child Supervision
  • Provide active supervision at all times.
  • Build positive relationships with children and families.
  • Lead games, crafts, homework assistance, STEM activities, outdoor play, and group activities.
  • Encourage kindness, teamwork, and respect.
  • Model Christian values and positive behavior.
Program Operations
  • Prepare engaging daily activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment.
  • Communicate with families during pick-up.
  • Assist with snack service.
  • Complete attendance and required documentation.
  • Work closely with leadership and classroom staff.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 21 years old (preferred for insurance purposes)
  • Have a valid driver's license
  • Have an excellent driving record
  • Be comfortable driving a passenger van in various weather conditions
  • Pass all required background screenings
  • Be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Enjoy working with school-age children
  • Be dependable, organized, and self-motivated
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Support Ark Academy's Christian mission and values

Experience working with children is preferred but not required.
