Job description

Onward Search Education is a specialized education staffing and talent solutions company that helps educators, therapists, and school health professionals find top jobs with the nation's top schools. We're partnering with a school in Garfield County, CO to hire dedicated Special Education Teacher.
Special Education Teachers support students with diverse learning needs by implementing individualized instruction and ensuring access to the general curriculum. This role plays a critical part in promoting academic growth, independence, and inclusion within the school community.
Position Details:
Start Date: August 10, 2026
End Date: May 21, 2027
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Location: In Person, Full-time hours
School Year: 2026/2027
Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student assessments and needs
  • Provide specialized instruction aligned with state standards and student goals
  • Modify curriculum, assignments, and assessments to accommodate diverse learners
  • Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and maintain compliance with regulations
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
  • Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development opportunities
  • Implement behavior management strategies and intervention plans as needed
  • Foster an inclusive, structured, and supportive classroom environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's preferred)
  • Valid Colorado Special Education Teaching Certification
  • Knowledge of IDEA regulations, IEP development, and compliance requirements
  • Experience working with students with a range of learning and behavioral needs
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt instructional methods and materials to meet student needs
