At 910 Media Group, we're building the future of local and regional media. Our portfolio includes trusted broadcast brands, MyNorth.com, Traverse Northern Michigan magazine, newsletters, social channels, events, video and emerging digital products that connect audiences with the people, places, experiences and stories that define Northern Michigan.
We're seeking an experienced managing editor to help manage and grow our MyNorth lifestyle content across print and digital platforms. This role is ideal for a highly organized editor who excels at developing stories, managing editorial workflows, and maintaining high standards for quality, voice and accuracy.
The ideal candidate is a strong editor, writer, and project manager who can keep content moving from pitch to publication and help identify opportunities to extend stories across platforms and reach audiences in meaningful ways.
Responsibilities
• Editorial Calendars: Help manage print and digital editorial calendars and keep stories moving from pitch to publication.
• Story Development: Identify strong story angles, seasonal trends and audience interests that resonate with Northern Michigan readers.
• Editing & Writing: Assign, edit and write stories while maintaining strong editorial standards, structure and voice across platforms.
• Workflow Management: Help keep editorial production organized and on schedule across platforms using tools like Monday, Slack, WordPress and PageProof.
• Cross-Platform Storytelling: Adapt stories for newsletters, web and social platforms while maintaining editorial quality and audience focus.
• Content Extension & Audience Engagement: Look for opportunities to thoughtfully extend stories across platforms, including newsletters, social media, video, events and other audience touchpoints.
• Liquid Content Thinking: Support a "create once, distribute thoughtfully" mindset by helping identify ways strong stories can be adapted and shared across platforms while maintaining editorial integrity and audience value.

Success in this role starts with producing and managing high-quality content, maintaining strong editorial standards, keeping projects on track and helping contributors do their best work. Successful candidates will be able to identify opportunities to extend strong stories across platforms and maximize the value of the content we create.
Qualifications:
• Degree in journalism, communications or related field
• 5+ years of editorial experience, preferably in lifestyle, regional or niche publishing
• Strong editing and writing skills
• Experience with print magazine production and digital publishing platforms
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
