Job description

Our marketplace is looking for a talented and experienced Catering Chef to lead and elevate the catering operations of our specialty market. This dynamic role is perfect for a culinary professional who takes pride in crafting high-quality, beautifully presented catering orders with precision and efficiency. The ideal candidate is detail-driven, thrives under pressure, and collaborates seamlessly with both the culinary and catering teams to deliver exceptional experiences and exceed customer expectations—all while upholding the highest standards of food safety, consistency, and presentation.

Responsibilities

  1. Execute catering menus in strict alignment with established recipes and portion guidelines.
  2. Develop and manage production plans for day-of and next-day catering orders, ensuring readiness and accuracy.
  3. Operate and navigate the FoodStorm catering platform to view, manage, and prioritize catering orders efficiently.
  4. Coordinate with the Catering Manager to ensure all orders are fulfilled accurately and delivered on time.
  5. Set prep lists for team members to efficiently prepare items needed for current and upcoming orders.
  6. Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation in accordance with health department regulations.
  7. Ensure proper plating and packaging of catering items for visual appeal and consistency.
  8. Work with other kitchen departments to source needed components from various programs (e.g., bakery, deli, hot bar).
  9. Communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking staff to ensure a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  10. Adapt and perform under pressure, especially during peak periods or high-volume order days.
  11. Assist in other kitchen functions as needed, including inventory, prep, and cross-training opportunities.
  12. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace at all times.
  13. Demonstrate strong time management and multitasking skills in a dynamic kitchen environment.
  14. Be available to work all major holidays and support seasonal catering needs.
  15. Other duties and functions as assigned

Requirements

  1. HS Diploma or equivalent
  2. 2+ years of culinary experience in a catering or food production setting
  3. Experience with catering systems, especially FoodStorm, is highly desirable
  4. Excellent understanding of recipe compliance, food presentation, and portion control
  5. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments
  6. Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred
  7. ServSafe or other food safety certification preferred
  8. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Working Conditions

  1. Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
  2. May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
  3. Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.
  4. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
