About the Role:
  • We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and driven Restaurant Chef to lead the kitchen operations at Franklin Social, a vibrant full-service restaurant in Jersey City. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in high-volume, scratch kitchens and a leadership-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage all daily back-of-house (BOH) kitchen operations
  • Provide hands-on leadership and mentorship to the kitchen team
  • Oversee food prep, execution, and presentation for daily service and private events
  • Control food and labor costs; manage inventory and reduce food waste
  • Create and implement new, seasonal menus
  • Hire, train, and retain a high-performing kitchen team
  • Ensure food safety and cleanliness standards are met

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Chef in a high-volume, scratch kitchen environment
  • Experience working in restaurants with $2M+ in annual sales volume
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a team-first approach
  • Solid understanding of restaurant financials (P&L, budgeting, etc.)
  • Experience handling private events
  • Must be tech-savvy โ€“ experience with Restaurant365, and open to using TOAST POS system
  • ServeSafe certification is required
  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to a car
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Stable work history (no frequent job changes)
