Job description

BUSINESS OPERATIONS ANALYST (STARLINK)

One of the most ambitious missions that SpaceX has undertaken to date, Starlink is leveraging our experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy the world's most advanced broadband internet system and largest satellite constellation to provide fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide, connect humanity, and fund Mars colonization.

Starlink Business Operations combines traditional planning and analysis with broader business decision-making and strategy, directly supporting SpaceX's leadership. Business Operations is embedded in daily operations, supporting both near-term execution and long-term planning. Team members are expected to analyze data and provide recommendations and to lead cross-functional decision-making and implementation of the recommendations. Starlink Business Operations is lean and dynamic, operating with a fluid structure that favors high agency. We expect high performers to expand their scope across the program's most critical bottlenecks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own global S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) for specific hardware products to convert hardware into active, happy, paying customers
  • Analyze key performance indicators, especially active subscribers, network utilization, produce-to-activate latency, inventory turnover, and hardware unit economics (CAC, payback period); includes developing complex S&OP models and decision-making tools
  • Translate analysis into strategic insights and hardware mix strategy to accelerate hardware adoption, maximize lifetime value, and minimize working capital
  • Orchestrate global supply allocation and demand forecasting by synthesizing complex demand signals against dynamic, geographically specific network capacity constraints, working directly with Network Engineering
  • Drive resource planning for specific verticals, including the execution of critical hardware ramp and sunset plans in close collaboration with Hardware & Manufacturing Engineering
  • Enable and accelerate go-to-market execution for products post-licensing and certification to ensure zero-latency deployment
  • Identify initiatives for improvement of Starlink's operational trajectory, including developing, tracking, and executing business initiatives with SpaceX's leadership

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, data science, physics, or other quantitative field
  • 1+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, product management, operations, FP&A, consulting, banking, or entrepreneurship
  • 1+ years of experience in Excel or programming

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Evidence of exceptional ability, especially within an ambiguous environment
  • Quantitative dual degree in engineering field and economics or business field and/or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated success driving tangible impact/influencing within a broader organization
  • Extreme sense of urgency and ownership; bias toward action and automation
  • Ability to read and interpret income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python; ability to handle large datasets independently
  • Excellent analytical modeling skills (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Looker)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly with senior business leaders

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, other SpaceX locations, and events as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Business Operations Analyst/Level I: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00/per year
Business Operations Analyst/Level II: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year.
