Job description

Automotive Dealership Bookkeeper, Dealertrack DMS Experience Preferred

Baraboo, Wisconsin

Are you an experienced automotive dealership bookkeeper or accounting professional who understands how dealership accounting works?

Do you know your way around deal jackets, schedules, accounts payable, receivables, reconciliations, titles, and dealership paperwork?

Are you tired of working in a large corporate dealership where you're just a number?

We may be looking for you.

We are a family-owned and operated Stellantis dealership in Baraboo, Wisconsin, and we're looking for an experienced Automotive Dealership Bookkeeper to join our accounting team.

This is a hands-on accounting position for someone who understands the details that keep a dealership office running accurately and efficiently.

If you have automotive dealership accounting experience and Dealertrack DMS experience, we would like to talk with you.

This is not a general bookkeeping position.

We are looking for someone who understands dealership accounting and is comfortable working with:

  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Bank and account reconciliations
  • Schedule reconciliations
  • Vehicle inventory accounting
  • Floorplan accounting
  • Titles and registrations
  • Customer and lender paperwork
  • Dealership accounting schedules
  • Month-end accounting support
  • Dealertrack DMS
  • Working with sales, service, parts and finance departments
  • Researching accounting discrepancies
  • Maintaining accurate dealership records

You do not have to know every area of dealership accounting on day one, but previous automotive dealership accounting experience is strongly preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As an Automotive Dealership Bookkeeper, you will help keep our dealership's accounting records accurate, current and organized.

Depending on your experience, responsibilities may include:

  • Processing vehicle deals
  • Reviewing deal paperwork for completeness and accuracy
  • Posting vehicle sales and related accounting entries
  • Processing accounts payable invoices
  • Posting and monitoring accounts receivable
  • Reconciling bank and general ledger accounts

  • Assisting with floorplan and vehicle inventory accounting
  • Processing title and registration paperwork
  • Following up on missing paperwork and outstanding accounting items
  • Posting payments and deposits
  • Maintaining accurate customer, vendor and vehicle records
  • Researching accounting discrepancies
  • Working with banks, lenders and vendors as needed
  • Assisting with month-end accounting and closing procedures
  • Preparing accounting reports and supporting documentation
  • Helping keep dealership accounting schedules clean and current
  • Communicating with other dealership departments to resolve paperwork or accounting issues
DEALERTRACK EXPERIENCE

Dealertrack DMS experience is strongly preferred.

If you currently work with Dealertrack and understand dealership accounting, schedules and deal processing, that is a major advantage.

Experience with a Stellantis dealership is also a plus.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The right person will be:

  • Experienced in automotive dealership bookkeeping or accounting
  • Comfortable working in a dealership DMS
  • Highly organized
  • Detail-oriented
  • Accurate with numbers and paperwork
  • Dependable and trustworthy
  • Comfortable handling confidential financial information
  • Able to work independently
  • Good at researching and resolving discrepancies
  • Someone who notices when an account or schedule does not look right
  • Comfortable communicating with coworkers, vendors, lenders and customers
  • Someone who takes responsibility for completing their work accurately
  • Looking for a stable, long-term position

We would especially like to hear from candidates with experience as an:

You will know the people you work with. You will have direct access to management. Your work will matter, and you will be an important part of keeping the dealership running successfully.

We value people who are loyal, hardworking, honest, accurate and willing to take responsibility for getting the job done.

If you enjoy dealership accounting and want to work somewhere your experience is appreciated, we would like to meet you.

COMPENSATION amp; BENEFITS

$23.00 to $30.00 per hour, based on dealership accounting experience and qualifications.

Candidates with strong automotive dealership accounting experience, broad bookkeeping skills, and Dealertrack DMS experience may qualify toward the higher end of the range.

Benefits include:
