Job description

Summary

The Unit Clerk has responsibility and accountability for maintaining an efficient and effective work environment and coordinating the clerical activities of the department. The Unit Clerk portrays professionalism in all interactions as they support the work of nursing in their department. Role responsibilities include:

  1. Maintenance of confidentiality of information regarding patients or significant others as well as health care team members.
  2. Support of managing resources, supplies and equipment.
  3. Coordination of patient care activities and departmental services.
  4. Provision of unit related non-nursing services as specified by the unit.
Education

High school diploma/GED preferred and a minimum of 1 year related work experience preferred. Must be at least 17 years of age.

Licensure/Certification

None required.

Addendums are required for 0153 Nurse Leader, 0249 Registry RN, 0252 Registered Nurse, 0235 Advanced Registered Nurse, and 0236 Expert Registered Nurse. To view addendums, go to the job description page on Parkview’s intranet.

Experience

Prefer one year of clerical experience, preferably in the medical field. However, on the job training will be provided.

Other Qualifications

Must have proficient computer skills and general understanding of computer applications. Demonstrates ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
