Training & Development Lead
The Opportunity
  • Training & Development Lead for Wyoming Refining Company
  • Improve Par's performance by improving core competencies and improved skill to further the company's growth-oriented goals and focus on training excellence.
  • Create local refinery learning standards and training initiatives with a collaborative team of training experts from Par's other refineries.
  • Enjoy exposure to Senior Management while providing strategic analysis of our refinery training initiatives.
  • Reporting to the Director, Learning & Development in Houston TX, you will play a key role in ensuring that the competencies of our refinery employees meet and exceed the expectations of the Wyoming Refining Company Leadership team.

Key activities include:
  • Responsible for improving operations training and qualification programs to include systematic alignment of operator training for Wyoming Refining Company.
  • Provide regulatory audit support for HSE department training.
  • Develop the initial audit protocol that will be used to monitor the effectiveness of site training programs.
  • Responsible for delivering training on procedural changes, including major Management of Change (MOC) training related to procedures.
  • Develop and manage project plans for human performance improvement initiatives within Par, including Par's leadership, technical, and job specific needs.
  • Responsible for tracking trainees' progress, recertification timelines, developing training succession plans, and communicating progress to relevant stakeholders.
  • Work with the Safety department to administer training drills and or emergency response training drills for site staff.
  • Identify and prioritize the internal and external resources required to complete training performance improvement initiatives.
  • Identify, develop, and implement learning systems to further development objectives.
  • Oversee the delivery of learning and development activities at Wyoming Refining Company and assist with same at other Par locations.
  • Develop the initial audit protocol that will be used to monitor the effectiveness of site training programs.
  • Recommend specific KPIs for the program refining leadership team.
  • Manage and report progress on the Learning and Development budget to Director of Learning and Development and Wyoming Refining Company's leadership team on a regular basis.

Qualifications
To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
Additional qualifications include:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree, from an accredited four-year college or university, in Business, Organization Development, or other position related field preferred
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) certification preferred
  • Proven successful team leadership
  • 5+ years of adult learning and development experience desired
  • Refinery / manufacturing / union experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge in software systems management
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word); Navigator LMS, Visio, Photo Editing, and Resolution Tracker desired
  • Experience with Smart Procedures/ATR preferred
  • Highly developed business writing, verbal communication, and public-speaking skills
