Position Title: Senior Software Engineer – Platform 
Location: Houston, TX onsite
FLSA Class: Exempt
Reports To: Manager of Software Engineering

Position Summary:

VoltaGrid is seeking a Senior Technical Solutions Engineer to join our Platform Team, responsible for designing and delivering scalable, high-impact solutions across complex, multi-domain environments. This role focuses on translating business challenges into technical solutions, driving automation, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

The Senior Technical Solutions Engineer will work closely with stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams to rapidly develop and deploy solutions that improve operational efficiency and scalability. This role requires strong systems thinking, problem decomposition, and the ability to operate across the full technology stack.

VoltaGrid is a leading private energy company delivering modular, scalable power and fuel solutions for microgrids and behind-the-meter applications supporting data centers, oil & gas, and other energy-intensive operations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in a distributed, agile development team focused on rapid iteration and continuous delivery
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and business partners to translate operational challenges into scalable technical solutions
  • Develop a deep understanding of business domains to effectively engage and solve complex problems
  • Engineer scalable solutions across the full technology stack using pro-code, low-code, and no-code tools
  • Apply systems thinking to design and model complex, interconnected systems
  • Aggregate, clean, and synthesize large, disparate data sets to generate actionable insights
  • Design and implement automated workflows using AI models, including LLM-driven and agent-based systems
  • Develop event-driven applications, APIs, and services using modern programming languages (e.g., TypeScript, Python, Go)
  • Utilize version control systems (Git) and participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and best practices
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and business teams

Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field; or equivalent industry experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical or software engineering domain
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as TypeScript, Python, or Go
  • Experience in data engineering at scale, including ETL/ELT pipelines, data cleaning, and enterprise integrations
  • Strong problem-solving skills with expertise in systems thinking and solution decomposition
  • Experience modeling complex data systems and integrating multiple data sources
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality solutions with minimal oversight
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
  • Demonstrated ownership of systems, codebases, or technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with pro-code, low-code, or no-code platforms (e.g., Palantir)
  • Experience integrating AI agents or automation into business workflows
  • Background in industrial or operational domains such as utilities, heavy equipment, construction, logistics, or energy
  • Familiarity with domain-driven design principles
  • Experience building user-facing applications using modern frameworks such as React or React Native
  • Mobile development experience (React Native or similar)
  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, etc.)
