Job description

Southern Specialties is seeking a technically strong, customer-focused Sales Engineer to serve as a key liaison between our customers, sales team, and production operations. This role blends technical expertise, sales support, project management, and customer relationship management to drive business growth and ensure successful execution from quote through production.
The Sales Engineer will act as the primary technical contact for customers while also supporting internal engineering and manufacturing needs, including sustaining engineering and process improvement initiatives.
Key Roles amp; Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned customers
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to understand business and technical requirements
  • Educate customers on Southern Specialties’ capabilities, processes, and solutions
Sales, Quoting amp; Project Management
  • Support new business development and sales growth through high-quality technical service
  • Prepare, present, and manage accurate and competitive quotes for products and services
  • Collaborate with customers to define requirements and develop technical solutions
  • Manage projects after order placement, working cross-functionally with internal teams
  • Coordinate with vendors and establish supply chains to support production readiness
Customer Support
  • Provide ongoing customer support to ensure satisfaction and long-term partnerships
  • Address and resolve technical or production-related issues efficiently and professionally
Performance Monitoring
  • Track, analyze, and report account performance metrics
  • Use data to identify opportunities for improvement and growth
CAD Design amp; Engineering Support
  • Utilize CAD software to design and customize products to customer specifications
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible and manufacturable
  • Serve as a secondary engineering resource, backfilling production engineering needs from sustaining support to process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • Certifications in project management, CAD software, or relevant technologies are a plus
Experience
  • Proven experience as a Sales Engineer or in a similar technical role
  • Background in technical support, sales engineering, CAD design, or manufacturing environments
  • Experience in sales or account management within a technical or industrial setting
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including cross-functional collaboration and vendor coordination
