We are seeking a results-driven Technical Sales Account Manager whose primary focus is new business development and revenue growth.

This is not an order-taking role. We are looking for a motivated sales professional who enjoys prospecting, opening doors, and building new customer relationships in the manufacturing sector.

Position Overview

The Technical Sales Account Manager is responsible for generating profitable revenue growth by:

  • Prospecting and developing new accounts
  • Expanding opportunities within underdeveloped accounts
  • Building longterm, marginfocused customer partnerships
  • This role combines:
  • Outside sales (prospecting, plant visits, relationship development)
  • Inside sales (quoting, technical review, followup)
  • Travel is primarily within the Portland metro area, with occasional travel in the Pacific Northwest.

    Success in this role is measured by:

  • Compensation includes a base salary plus uncapped commission tied to performance.

  • Identify and target new manufacturing customers
  • Proactively prospect through calls, visits, networking, and referrals

  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications

  • Serve as Technical & Commercial Liaison

  • Provide guidance on plating, electroless nickel, zinc systems, powder coating, and related finishing processes
  • Collaborate with operations, scheduling, quality, and shipping teams
  • Help resolve technical or quality issues professionally and efficiently

    Qualifications

    Required
  • Proven success in new business development within manufacturing, industrial, or technical sales
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect and close new accounts
  • Strong understanding of metal finishing processes (plating, electroless nickel, zinc, powder coating preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent negotiation and relationshipbuilding skills
  • High attention to detail in quoting and order review
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
  • Ability to walk production areas and engage in plant environments
  • Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience working with a manufacturing ERP system
