This position is located in our Jasper Rubber Products location in Jasper, IN 

PURPOSE OF POSITION 


The Controller is responsible for managing the organization's accounting and financial reporting activities. This role prepares accurate and timely financial reports to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax obligations, and other financial activities, while supporting informed business decision-making.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 


Perform and manage daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries

Process and review payroll and 401(k) activity, ensuring accurate payroll reporting and timely funding

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and complete period-end close activities

Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and supporting documentation, and apply internal controls appropriate for a small-company environment

Review daily transactions for accuracy and completeness and resolve discrepancies as needed

Prepare sales reports, financial analyses, and basic performance metrics for management review

Assist in preparing the annual budget and forecasts; track budget-to-actual results and explain variances

Work directly with external accountants, tax preparers, and auditors by providing schedules, documentation, and audit support

Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal reporting and filing requirements

Serve as the primary accounting contact for banks, payroll providers, insurance carriers, and other third-party vendors

Train and support accounting staff, if applicable, and provide coverage during absences

Perform other related duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS


Proficiency in general and cost accounting, with the ability to develop budgets, prepare forecasts, determine profitability, and analyze variances

Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Effective oral and written communication skills

Sound judgment; motivated, ethical, dependable, and cost-conscious

Ability to support and align with the organization's goals and values

Demonstrated ability to support teammates and exhibit leadership skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Experience working in a manufacturing environment

Experience managing third-party relationships related to banking, employee benefits, self-funded health programs, commercial insurance, and legal contracts


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE


Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance

Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience in manufacturing, distribution, or similar industries, with an emphasis on measuring manufacturing performance

Experience with start-up or re-launching a facility is preferred
