This is a Part-time Curriculum Development position and receives $35 per hour for 40 hours.
Position Summary
The Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Curriculum Development is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying high-quality asynchronous or hybrid courses for St. Johns River State College. This role includes curriculum planning, instructional content development, assessment design, and integration of course materials into the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). The SME will ensure course alignment with student learning outcomes, accessibility standards, and institutional quality requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Development
โ€ข Develop course maps aligned with student and program learning outcomes
โ€ข Create curriculum outlines for a 15-week course structure
โ€ข Design assessment strategies aligned with course objectives and grading requirements
โ€ข Develop a course syllabus with topical outlines for each session
โ€ข Create lesson plans, assignments, quizzes, exams, and grading rubrics
โ€ข Identify and incorporate horticulture-related texts, readings, media resources, and instructional materials
โ€ข Develop laboratory activities and instructional guides as applicable
Learning Management System (LMS) Development
โ€ข Build and organize course modules within the Canvas LMS
โ€ข Design a course home page with clear navigation and accessibility considerations
โ€ข Configure quizzes, discussion boards, assignment submissions, and gradebook settings
โ€ข Integrate approved external tools and learning technologies into Canvas
โ€ข Ensure compliance with SJR State online learning standards and accessibility requirements
Quality Assurance and Project Support
โ€ข Conduct quality assurance reviews including accessibility verification and link testing
โ€ข Perform "student view" audits to ensure usability and course functionality
โ€ข Participate in project milestone reviews and revision processes
โ€ข Complete assigned development timelines and deliverables
โ€ข Collaborate with academic leadership to finalize and launch the course
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
โ€ข Experience in instruction, online teaching, curriculum development, or horticulture industry training required
โ€ข Subject matter expertise in horticulture required
โ€ข Experience using Canvas or a comparable LMS preferred
โ€ข Ability to complete assigned course development projects within established timelines
