Job description
About the Job
The vision of the Colorado Christian University (CCU) Academy is to provide affordable dual enrollment opportunities for high school students to help cut costs for families, prepare students for college, and provide an avenue for high school students to graduate with a high school diploma, CCU college credit, and even an associate's degree at the same time when they choose to pursue the A.A. in Liberal Arts track.
The CCU Academy Graduate Assistant works within the Academic department of CCU Academy. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Curriculum and Instruction to provide administrative support to the Academic department. Key job duties include aiding and supporting the dual credit application process, digital file organization, data input and management, and other duties as assigned.
About CCU
Colorado Christian University is the premier interdenominational Christian university in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region, delivering world class education to thousands of students. The fully accredited, nonprofit University is located in Lakewood, Colorado, a suburb of Denver.
Colorado Christian University was founded in 1914 on two principles - grace and truth. CCU's scriptural foundation comes from John 1:17: For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. (ESV)
CCU's mission is Christ-centered higher education transforming students to impact the world with grace and truth.
A leader in higher education, the University has been consistently ranked in the top 2 percent of colleges and universities nationwide for its core curriculum by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni. CCU has had nine consecutive years of enrollment growth and has been named one of the five fastest-growing master's granting universities by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
CCU offers more than 200-degree program options for traditional and adult students through its College of Undergraduate Studies and College of Adult and Graduate Studies. More than 9,000 students attend the University on the main campus, in regional centers throughout Colorado, and online.
What is most appealing about working at CCU?
- Faith-friendly: CCU's culture is unique to higher education. Where else can you pursue academic excellence yet read the Holy Bible, pray with teammates and students at work, and work to impact our culture in support of Christian values?
- Convictionally Christian: As a university, we have an enduring commitment to Christ, his kingdom and the truth of God's Word.
- Live out your calling: We are a traditional evangelical university where you can invest your God-given talents and abilities alongside coworkers and teammates, while having a profound influence on students as they deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Equip students for kingdom work: You can be a part of helping students discover their callings and preparing them for positions of significant leadership in the church, business, government, education, and other professions, as a key part of our University's Strategic Priorities.
We're looking for candidates who have:
- Bachelor's degree and acceptance into one of CCU's graduate programs required.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member and as an individual contributor.
- Ability to work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment and simultaneously manage multiple tasks. Work under deadlines and manage time effectively.
- Someone who has an eye for details and efficiency.
- Ability to learn and use Brightspace, Zoom, Adobe Pro, Concourse, Service Desk, along with other Microsoft Office programs.
- Energetic personality, self-starting mentality, results-driven, and with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Positive demeanor and professional appearance.
Key Job Duties
- Contribute to CCU's mission: Christ-centered higher education transforming students to impact the world with grace and truth. In this role, the Curriculum Development Graduate Assistant contributes to the mission by supporting the Academics department of CAGS Curriculum Development to provide Christ-centered higher education to high school students.
- Report to and support the Curriculum Development Coordinator in managing and upkeeping systems and processes as they relate to CAGS courses and the university LMS.
- Assist with the upkeep of the master textbook list.
- Assist with the tracking of textbook edition updates.
- Check for overdue faculty contracts in monthly reports.
- Regularly review the schedule for updating CCU-created course materials.
- Respond to common email questions using provided templates.
- Assist with the desk copy request process and keep the log updated.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must be able to drive a vehicle, fly by plane, and/or use other modes of transportation.
Graduate Assistant Program Details
The Graduate Assistant position is a minimum of a two-year commitment and coincides with the entrance into and completion of a graduate program at CCU. Students may take 2-3 years to complete their academic program, depending on the program selected. Graduate Assistants are expected to complete a minimum of two years of service, and to stay in their role through the end of the fiscal year (June 30) in which they complete their graduate program.
The Graduate Assistant must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university and be accepted and enrolled in one of CCU's graduate programs. A complete listing of degree opportunities and admissions requirements is posted at http://www.ccu.edu/ccu/grad/. The standard workweek is 25 hours per week and will not exceed an average of 29 hours per week during the year.
Compensation includes a wage of $15.16 an hour and tuition waiver for completion of a master's degree through Colorado Christian University's College of Adult and Graduate Studies. The recipient is responsible for student fees each semester. Any selected graduate assistant is required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have results sent to CCU for review.
Application Status
Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
Spiritual Requirements
- Committed follower of Jesus Christ, who believes there is no salvation apart from faith in his atonement on the cross, by grace alone becoming "born again" thus beginning a personal relationship with Christ, the Son of God.
- Able to effectively communicate personal faith and apply biblical principles and convictions in the workplace. Must have a strong sense of calling to the ministry of Colorado Christian University.
- Regularly attend and be engaged in meaningful involvement in a Bible-believing evangelical local church. Knowledgeable about the Word of God and passionate about Christian education.
- Must be a traditional evangelical Christian whose lifestyle is in consonance with sound Christian principles, is compatible with CCU's Statement of Faith, and is in agreement with the Strategic Priorities promulgated by the University.
