What is a recruiter?

Recruiters are professionals who help organizations find and hire suitable candidates for job openings. They may work internally within a company's human resources department or externally for staffing agencies. Recruiters source candidates, review resumes, conduct interviews, and coordinate the hiring process. Their goal is to match qualified individuals with roles that fit their skills and the employer's needs. Effective recruiters build strong networks and maintain relationships with both employers and job seekers.

What do recruiters do?

The primary role of a recruiter is to match job seekers with job vacancies based on a candidate’s credentials and a company’s needs. A recruiter seeks out qualified candidates, then serves as a liaison between the candidate and the company to meet the demands of both parties regarding job duties and compensation. Recruiters save companies time by weeding out unqualified or unfit job seekers, and they help job seekers by connecting them with opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Recruiter, strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of talent acquisition strategies, and a background in human resources or business are essential, often supported by a bachelor’s degree. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), sourcing platforms like LinkedIn Recruiter, and HR certifications such as SHRM or PHR are commonly required. Excellent communication, active listening, and relationship-building abilities help recruiters stand out in engaging both clients and candidates. These skills are crucial for matching the right talent to organizational needs and ensuring a smooth hiring process.

What are some common challenges recruiters face when sourcing candidates, and how can they overcome them?

Recruiters often face challenges such as finding qualified candidates for hard-to-fill roles, standing out to top talent in a competitive market, and managing a high volume of applications efficiently. To overcome these hurdles, recruiters leverage creative sourcing strategies, utilize advanced applicant tracking systems, and build strong employer branding to attract passive candidates. Additionally, maintaining clear communication with hiring managers and regularly updating sourcing techniques can help ensure a smoother recruitment process.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a recruiter who genuinely enjoys the craft of recruiting—not just filling seats. That person excels at building trust, momentum, and long-term relationships. You’ve already established a foundation in full-cycle recruiting and want to level up. You’re energized by conversations, curious about people and technology, and motivated by measurable results. This role is for someone who wants to be great at recruiting which includes:.

  • Taking pride in following through and doing what you say you’ll do
  • Enjoying being coached and actively seeking feedback to get better
  • Being naturally curious about people, roles, and what makes a great match
  • Seeing challenges as puzzles to solve
  • Communicating clearly, confidently, and honestly with both candidates and teammates
  • Wanting to be part of a team where effort and results both matter
  • Managing many details without losing sight of the bigger picture

What You will Do

As a Recruiter at CorSource, you’ll own the full recruiting lifecycle for technical roles that directly impact our clients’ success. Your work matters—great recruiting is how we deliver on our partnership with our clients and create meaningful opportunities for the consultants we place. You’ll partner closely with account managers, represent CorSource in the market, and build candidate pipelines that support the company’s growth. The role includes:

  • Owning the end-to-end recruiting process, from initial outreach through offer acceptance
  • Sourcing, engaging, and building relationships with technical professionals across multiple channels
  • Conducting thoughtful phone and video interviews that assess both capability and fit
  • Executing consistent, high-quality outbound sourcing and follow-up
  • Using LinkedIn and other platforms strategically to engage both active and passive candidates
  • Partnering closely with Account Managers to align on role priorities and sourcing strategies
  • Maintaining accurate, timely documentation and pipeline visibility
  • Conducting reference checks and contributing to business development through candidate insight

Qualifications

You bring enough recruiting experience to hit the ground running, and you’re still hungry to learn, get coached, and grow professionally.

Education, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Marketing, Communications, HR, or related field preferred)
  • 2–5 years of experience in recruiting (agency or in-house), ideally supporting technical roles
  • Experience managing a full-cycle recruiting process and building candidate pipelines proactively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Teams)
  • Experience using an ATS/CRM; proficiency with Bullhorn or a similar recruiting platform preferred
  • Previous experience in the technology industry strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of staffing and/or consulting industries (and how speed + quality both matter)

How you work

  • Responsiveness: You move with urgency and don’t let candidates or teammates hang
  • Transparency: You’re direct, honest, and professional—especially when it’s uncomfortable
  • Thoughtfulness: You make good judgment calls and protect relationships while driving outcomes
  • Curiosity: You ask great questions and continuously sharpen your recruiting instincts
  • Results focus: You own the number and the outcome, not just the activity
