Job Description

PCI is seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent for its Portland 553 operations based in Portland, OR.  This individual will verify, prepare and forward purchase orders, verify receipt of items and authorize payments.

  • Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
  • Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
  • Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.
  • Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
  • Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
  • Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
  • Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Maintains purchase orders to ensure all have been billed timely and finalize once invoiced.

Salary range: $59,000- $79,000 annual salary plus non-guaranteed annualized bonus program.

Basic Requirements:

  • Purchasing experience, preferred, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • Ability to learn new job skills by engaging in the technical aspects of the job and applying new skills as they are taught
  • Customer service skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • General knowledge of trade tools, equipment and materials used in the construction industry

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of material work planning and methods engineering processes and procedures
  • Able to negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements
  • Local or within 1 hour of office.
