Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Admin to support the financial operations of our construction projects and company accounting functions. The focus of the role is assisting the Finance Director and the Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate has experience in construction accounting, understands contractor workflows, and can work closely with project managers and leadership to ensure accurate financial tracking and profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day accounting operations for construction projects and corporate finances.
  • Assist with accurate job costing and project financial records
  • Assist with processing invoices, track project expenses, reconcile accounts payable and receivable, vendor and contractor payments
  • Assist with processing monthly, quarterly and yearly sales tax, use tax and SOS filings
  • Assist with bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger account reconciliations
  • Assist with preparing monthly financial statements, WIP (Work in Progress) reports, and cash flow reports
  • Support year-end audits and work with external CPAs or tax professionals
  • Maintain organized accounting and project documentation
  • Verify 1099, W-9 and ACH Banking information
  • Payroll support
  • Complete vendor and client credit applications
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimal Qualifications

Education

  • Associateโ€™s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1+ years of accounting experience

Work Experience

  • Experience with multi-project accounting environments
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting principles and job costing
  • Experience with accounting software such as Procore and QuickBooks

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements
  • Understanding of construction contracts and change order processes
  • Ability to analyze project profitability and financial trends

Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Coursework or concentration in construction accounting or project management is a plus

Certification / License

  • Procore Certification and QuickBooks Certification preferred

Work Experience

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2โ€“3 years in construction or general contracting environments
  • Experience supporting multiple concurrent construction projects with full-cycle accounting responsibilities
  • Proven experience with job costing, WIP reporting, and project financial tracking
  • Experience working with subcontractors, lien waivers, and compliance documentation
  • Prior experience collaborating with project managers and operations teams

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing, AIA billing, retainage, and percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling)
  • Experience with construction management and accounting software (e.g., Procore, QuickBooks, or similar systems)
  • Understanding of state and federal tax requirements related to construction (sales/use tax, 1099 reporting, etc.)
  • Familiarity with prevailing wage laws and certified payroll processes
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends impacting project profitability
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with field teams and leadership
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify issues and recommend solutions proactively


Compensation

  • Constructiv is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary for this role is $60,000.00 - $80,000.00. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidateโ€™s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long-term incentives.
