Job Description

Addison Group is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee end-to-end payroll operations for a large, multi-state organization. This individual will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, maintaining compliance with payroll tax regulations, supporting payroll system initiatives, and driving continuous process improvements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a collaborative environment while managing confidential information with the highest level of professionalism.


Responsibilities
  • Manage full-cycle payroll processing for a large multi-state employee population.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Review payroll data, reconciliations, tax filings, and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support payroll system upgrades, implementations, and ongoing system maintenance.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, and other internal departments to support payroll operations.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve payroll processes, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency improvements, and process standardization.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure the integrity of employee payroll data.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, tax issues, and employee inquiries.
  • Manage relationships with payroll vendors and external service providers.
  • Prepare recurring payroll reports and assist with audits and compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee and payroll information.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including full-cycle payroll processing.
  • Experience processing payroll for large organizations (approximately 700+ employees or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and multi-state payroll compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with Costpoint, ADP Workforce Now, and UKG.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Payroll management or payroll lead experience.
  • Experience supporting payroll system implementations or conversions.
  • Workday experience.
  • FPC or CPP certification.
  • Experience driving payroll process improvements and automation initiatives.
