JOB TITLE: Senior Manager, Commercial Data Operations & Governance

REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Sales Operations and Business Analytics

LOCATION: Boston, MA preferred, remote would be considered for an exceptional candidate

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Senior Manager, Commercial Data Operations & Governance is responsible for the day-to-day stewardship of commercial data assets, vendor operations, and commercial data operations supporting a specialty oncology commercial organization. This position reports to Senior Director, Sales Operations and Business Analytics. The role oversees data governance and MDM processes, manages commercial data vendors, drives continuous improvement of operational workflows, and ensures compliance and documentation standards are maintained across the commercial data ecosystem. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the oncology marketplace, technical fluency in pharmaceutical data platforms, and operational discipline to keep vendor feeds, data quality, and system access running smoothly.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:   

Data Governance and Master Data Management

·       Own execution of day-to-day data stewardship activities and ensure adherence to established data governance standards.

·       Own affiliation maintenance and account hierarchy within the MDM environment

·       Manage data quality and lead investigation and resolution of data issues

·       Develop and maintain SOPs for data governance and operational processes

Commercial Data Vendor Management

·       Serve as the operational owner for commercial data vendors, ensuring SLA performance, issue resolution, and successful delivery of commercial data assets.

·       Conduct vendor performance reviews, escalation management, and root cause analysis

·       Develop and maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and process maps supporting commercial data operations.

Commercial Data Operations & Enablement

·       Oversee operational data processing, support commercial data integrations, and onboard new data assets.

·       Lead operational intake, validation, and onboarding of new commercial data assets and enhancements.

·       Manage commercial data release schedules, coordinate production deployments, and communicate release readiness with business stakeholders and vendors.

·       Manage system access provisioning

·       Support user onboarding for commercial systems

·       Intake and resolution of operational support requests from commercial stakeholders

·       Build collaborative partnerships across Commercial Operations, Analytics, Marketing, Market Access, Trade, IT, Compliance, and external vendors to ensure effective execution of commercial data operations.

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

·       Continuously evaluate operational processes and implement improvements that increase scalability, reduce manual effort, and improve data quality.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Essential Qualifications

·       Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and a self-starter mindset, with a BA/BS degree in a relevant field and 6+ years of commercial operations, commercial data operations, sales operations, or data governance experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. 2+ years of oncology or specialty market experience preferred

Technical Abilities:

·       Working knowledge of oncology sales and claims datasets (IQVIA, Komodo, Specialty Pharmacy, customer master, etc)

·       Experience working with cloud-based commercial data platforms, data warehouses, and analytics environments (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Tableau).

·       Experience supporting master data management, data governance, or commercial data stewardship processes.

·       Experience supporting sales force automation and CRM platforms (Salesforce/Veeva)

·       Ability to translate business and end-user needs into operational and system requirements

·       Strong vendor management skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships simultaneously

·       Strong analytical and process documentation skills.

·       Ability to synthesize operational issues and communicate recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Experience implementing or operating within formal data governance frameworks in a regulated commercial environment.

·       Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI, and de-identification requirements applicable to commercial healthcare data.
