Manager, Commercial Operations

Catalent is seeking a Manager, Commercial Operations to support our Kansas City Analytical Services business. This role serves as the commercial lead for existing customer programs, partnering with Business Development, Project Management, Laboratory Operations, and Finance to ensure successful execution of customer projects while driving operational efficiency, forecasting accuracy, and business growth.

The successful candidate will combine a strong analytical or laboratory background with commercial and customer-facing experience. This individual will leverage data, customer demand signals, and operational insights to support capacity planning, commercial decision-making, portfolio management, and long-term customer success.

Our BioAnalytics team provides comprehensive analytical testing, method development, characterization, validation, and stability services that help customers accelerate development timelines, ensure product quality, and bring life-changing therapies to patients worldwide. Working alongside scientific, operational, and commercial partners, you'll play a key role in supporting a diverse portfolio of biologics and advanced therapeutics for some of the industry's most innovative companies.

Location: 100% onsite at our Kansas City, Missouri facility Shift: Monday Friday, First Shift

The Role

  • Leverage your understanding of analytical testing and laboratory operations to identify bottlenecks, improve turnaround times, enhance operational efficiency, and help maximize laboratory capacity and performance.
  • Serve as the commercial lead for existing customer programs, ensuring alignment between customer expectations, contractual commitments, and operational execution.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Business Development, Project Management, Laboratory Operations, and Finance to support customer success and drive business growth.
  • Lead demand forecasting, capacity planning, and portfolio management activities to support laboratory utilization, operational readiness, and long-term planning.
  • Manage commercial agreements, contract renewals, and customer communications while identifying opportunities to strengthen customer relationships and grow existing accounts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in contracting, commercial operations, program management, account management, or other business-related roles within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology services industry.
  • Direct experience working within a BioAnalytics, Analytical Services, laboratory operations, quality control, analytical development, or similar scientific environment, with a strong understanding of laboratory workflows, testing operations, and opportunities to improve efficiency, capacity, and turnaround times.

  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and business acumen, with experience collaborating across cross-functional teams in a customer-focused environment.

Preferred Skills & Background

  • Candidates who have progressed from technical, laboratory, or scientific roles into Commercial Operations, Business Operations, Program Management, or Account Management are highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial operations, business operations, program management, account management, contracting, or related business functions within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CDMO, or CRO industry.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD) in a scientific, engineering, business, or related discipline.
  • Experience within a CDMO, CRO, biologics, cell & gene therapy, vaccine, or broader biopharmaceutical services environment.
