Role Overview

The Senior Manager of Commercial Operations is responsible for leading assigned new equipment customer efforts from bid/no-bid through contract execution. This role ensures timely, highquality, competitive proposals and contracts that balance Mitsubishi Power's commercial risk with customer requirements. The Senior Manager serves as a primary commercial interface for customers and EPC partners on assigned opportunities and manages a small commercial team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Lead proposal execution for Gas Turbine / Combined Cycle and Hydrogen Generation & Storage opportunities, ensuring ontime, compliant, and competitive submissions.
  • Serve as primary commercial liaison to Owners and EPC customers for assigned proposals.
  • Develop and execute winning bid strategies in collaboration with Sales and Engineering.
  • Lead contract negotiations for equipment supply contracts for assigned opportunities, escalating key commercial risks as required.
  • Manage commercial scope development, contract formation, risk identification, and internal approvals.

  • Manage a commercial team of 0-3 direct reports, providing coaching and technical guidance.
  • Maintain proposal opportunity data, pricing history, and approvals within CRM systems.
  • Support development and refinement of commercial tools, templates, and standard work.
  • Monitor industry trends and contribute insights to improve future bid positioning.
  • Travel up to 25% for customer meetings, site visits, and internal strategy reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or related field required. MBA preferred.
  • 5-8 years of experience leading: Endtoend commercial proposals for energy or industrial projects, Contract negotiations within defined authority limits and experience coordinating with Engineering, Legal, Supply Chain, and Sales. 
  • Strong working knowledge of: equipment supply, EPC and LTSA contracts, pricing structures, cash flow, guarantees, and LDs.
  • Ability to assess and articulate commercial risk.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (verbal and written) required with the ability to negotiation in Spanish
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder and customerfacing communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Proficiency managing CRM opportunity pipelines and reporting.
  • Experience managing or mentoring 0-3 direct reports.
  • Demonstrated sound commercial judgment.
  • Resultsdriven with strong ownership mindset.
