The Career & Internship Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Work-Based Learning Manager to join their team.
About this Opportunity
Reporting to the Associate Director for Employer & Community Connections, the Work-Based Learning Manager is responsible for leading the center's efforts to help students build the experience they need for career success. This is accomplished by managing specialized programs; educating employers; supporting campus partners who work with interns and student employees; producing content to inform and inspire various stakeholders; and using data and best practice research to propose new initiatives.
This role will serve on the UW Seattle campus and is eligible for up to 40% (2 days) of telework per week, depending on staff, employer, and student needs, but will work mostly in-person during the initial training period. The salary information provided below is for a full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
Work-Based Learning Program Management (50%)
Manage all aspects of several specialized programs that run concurrently, such as the Campus Internship Development Fund, Public Service Internship Award, Accessible Futures, Project-Based Learning Cohort, and other programs as they emerge.
Recruit, select, onboard, and support managers and students through ongoing communication.
Make fiscal proposals, track expenditures, brainstorm solutions for disbursement challenges, and partner with unit administrator on timely transactions.
Track participant info, total participation time, participant outcomes, and other relevant metrics.
Evaluate programs, suggest enhancements, and create annual reports.
Design, launch, and evaluate new programs deemed feasible for helping Huskies build skills and experience.
Consultation & Training (25%)
Facilitate employer webinars on effective intern recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and management.
Facilitate webinars for UW staff on effective recruitment and management of student employees.
Reach out to managers of student employees to suggest ways to support student career readiness.
Provide consultation to employers wanting to start or enhance an internship program.
Assist academic departments in supporting their students' internship needs.
In partnership with UW's Community Engagement & Leadership Education Center, co-facilitate Gen St 350, an asynchronous online internship reflection course.
Content Creation & Maintenance (25%)
Maintain related web pages such as, but not limited to, the Internship Advice page, Create an Internship page, On-Campus Student Employment page, and specialized work-based learning program pages.
Create new content such as web pages, handouts, infographics, videos, blog posts, and social media ideas to educate students and employers about work-based learning. Revise resources regularly.
Evaluate current and new vendors that help students build experience; manage vendor relationships; create and periodically refresh their web presence on our site.
Solicit, develop, and post intern success profiles.

Skill in producing brief educational content such as webpages or infographics.
Experience conceiving of new programs or solutions to meet identified needs.
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally in writing and in one-to-one settings.

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Genuine desire to seek, receive, and implement feedback from others.
Proficiency in utilizing computer applications and online platforms (i.e. MS Office, Zoom, shared cloud storage spaces, databases, Handshake etc.).
