About Us

We are a growing, full-service tax and accounting firm that supports closely held businesses and individuals with yearround advisory, bookkeeping, and tax services. We leverage modern cloud accounting tools and tight processes to deliver accurate, timely financials our clients and tax team can rely on.

The Role

The Bookkeeping Manager will oversee our bookkeeping team and own the quality, timeliness, and consistency of client books across the firm. This role is both handson and managerial: you will supervise staff, review work, handle complex cleanups, and act as the primary escalation point for client bookkeeping issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of bookkeepers, including training new hires and providing ongoing feedback and coaching.
  • Manage workload, capacity, and deadlines to ensure all recurring and project bookkeeping work is completed accurately and on time.
  • Oversee daytoday bookkeeping for assigned clients: bank and credit card reconciliations, AP/AR, payroll postings, adjusting entries, and monthend close.
  • Review staff work for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to firm procedures and GAAP, and finalize financials for internal and client use.
  • Own and continuously improve bookkeeping processes, checklists, and documentation, including maintaining a procedures manual and clientspecific workflows.
  • Handle complex items personally, such as historical cleanups, multientity or multistate books, and tricky reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with our tax preparers/CPAs to support yearend close, provide complete workpapers, and respond to questions from the tax team.
    indeed+1
  • Assist with sales tax filings, 1099 preparation, and other compliancerelated tasks as needed.
  • Serve as an escalation point and primary contact for select clients on bookkeeping questions, new projects, and improvements to their accounting systems.

Qualifications

  • 57+ years of progressive bookkeeping experience, including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting in a public accounting or outsourcedbookkeeping environment.
  • 23+ years of supervisory or teamlead experience overseeing bookkeeping staff or an accounting support team.
  • Strong proficiency with modern accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online/Desktop, Xero) and Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Solid understanding of monthend close, workpaper preparation, and support for tax return preparation.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously.
  • Clear, professional communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to nonaccountants and build positive client relationships.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working directly with CPA/tax firms and familiarity with tax deadlines and workflows.
  • Experience with payroll systems and posting payroll to the general ledger.
  • Certification such as Certified Bookkeeper (AIPB), NACPB, or QuickBooks/Xero certification.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package (salary commensurate with experience).
  • A collaborative team environment with direct access to firm leadership and tax professionals.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, process ownership, and shaping how the firm delivers bookkeeping services.
