Job description

Job Title: Bookkeeping Supervisor

Job Description

The Bookkeeping Supervisor oversees the quality and accuracy of all bookkeeping projects, ensuring that financial records, reconciliations, and processes meet high professional standards. This role combines hands-on review and audit work with coaching, training, and support for a growing team of bookkeepers. The Bookkeeping Supervisor also steps in to perform core bookkeeping duties when needed and collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and external parties such as auditors and regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Review and audit all bookkeeping projects to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback and coaching to bookkeepers after completing reviews.
  • Identify areas for improvement and deliver training to the team on specific bookkeeping procedures, processes, and nuances.
  • Conduct one-on-one training sessions with team members when needed to address individual development needs.
  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping duties, including accounts receivable and accounts payable tasks, when required to support the team and maintain workflow.
  • Actively participate in daily, weekly, and monthly huddles and meetings to discuss priorities, progress, and process improvements.
  • Respond to questions and inquiries from management, auditors, and regulatory authorities in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support a fast-paced, production-focused environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the accounting and bookkeeping functions.

Essential Skills

  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field, with specific experience in accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • 3–5 years of experience and strong understanding of bookkeeping procedures, processes, and nuances.
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting and reconciliation, including reviewing and validating financial data.
  • Strong skills with 10-key for efficient and accurate numeric data entry.
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for reporting, analysis, and reconciliation.
  • Ability to provide coaching and feedback to team members in a clear and supportive manner.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all bookkeeping and review activities.
  • Ability to answer inquiries from management, auditors, and regulatory authorities with confidence and professionalism.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in tax planning or exposure to tax-related bookkeeping is beneficial.
  • Background in a production-oriented or time-sensitive accounting environment is an advantage.
