Overview:

StaffBuffalo is working with a growing global commodities and supply chain organization to hire a Strategy Analyst. This is a highly visible opportunity for an intellectually curious business professional who wants direct exposure to executive leadership, international expansion, business operations, market analysis, capital allocation, and corporate growth.

The Strategy Analyst will support several priority initiatives at a time, partnering with senior leaders on projects that may include financial modeling, pricing analysis, market research, M&A diligence, KPI development, dashboard creation, international entity buildout, government engagement, and strategic process improvement. This role is ideal for someone coming from investment banking, management consulting, corporate development, corporate strategy, equity research, credit research, or a strong MBA program.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, analytical, and polished professional who enjoys ambiguity, travel, and high-impact work. • Build financial models, pricing analyses, investment cases, dashboards, KPI tools, and executive-level reports
  • Support international expansion initiatives, including market entry research, entity development, timelines, and operational planning
  • Assist with M&A diligence, new venture evaluation, business model assessment, and strategic growth opportunities
  • Partner with commercial trading teams, strategy leadership, data analysts, and international colleagues on priority projects
  • Prepare concise recommendations, project updates, and presentations for senior leadership and external stakeholders
  • Represent the organization professionally with business partners, industry contacts, and government stakeholders as needed

Qualifications:

  • MBA preferred, or 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, corporate development, corporate strategy, equity research, credit research, or a related field
  • Strong financial modeling, market sizing, business analysis, research, and data interpretation skills
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in commodities, metals, mining, agriculture, energy, industrial markets, defense, aerospace, or adjacent sectors preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience creating dashboards, reporting tools, KPI frameworks, and analytical models
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the executive presence to interact with senior leaders and external stakeholders
  • Highly motivated, intellectually curious, adaptable, and comfortable owning multiple concurrent projects with limited structure
  • Chinese, Vietnamese, or Japanese language skills are highly desirable

Benefits:

  • Salary range of $100,000-$130,000 with compensation based on experience
  • Annual bonus opportunity and strong long-term career growth potential
  • Comprehensive health, dental, 401(k), short-term disability, and long-term disability benefits
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership, commercial decision makers, and high-impact strategic initiatives
  • Opportunity to help build a growing strategy function within a global business
