Job description

Binti builds software for state and county government agencies, focusing on reinventing social services. We started in child welfare, with the mission of helping every child have a safe, loving, and stable family. To date, we've helped approve more than 100,000 families to foster or adopt, and we support over 49% of the nation's child welfare system. We have expanded our product offerings in child welfare, moving more to the root of the problem, helping families stay together and avoid separation, and are now expanding horizontally across other areas in social services.
Binti is a for-profit, mission-driven software company based in San Francisco, CA. Investors include Founders Fund, First Round Capital, Kapor Capital, and others. We're a team of ~90 people and growing quickly. We care about creating a workplace where everyone feels welcome and can bring their full self to work. We have a huge, ambitious vision to rewire government to be more effective in expanding opportunities for people around the world, and we are looking for mission-driven, high-empathy, high-performance, and low-ego team members to join us on our exciting journey towards that vision.
Help transform the child welfare system, at scale.
Binti is a mission-driven technology company working to ensure every child has a family. Our platform powers child welfare agencies across more than half of U.S. states, helping social workers, governments, and providers operate more efficiently and make better decisions for children and families.
We are hiring a Summer Strategy & Operations Intern to contribute to a set of priority initiatives spanning product, operations, and customer impact.. This role is ideal for:
  • MBA students (summer internship) or
  • Current consultants (Bain, BCG, McKinsey) pursuing an externship

You'll apply structured problem-solving, analytical rigor, and emerging technologies like AI in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment.
What You'll Do
You'll operate as a generalist across Binti's highest-priority initiatives, with real ownership and exposure to senior stakeholders.
Drive strategic insights
  • Lead market scans, customer research, and competitive benchmarking
  • Conduct interviews with cross-functional Binti teams and synthesize insights into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Map customer journeys to identify friction points and opportunities for improvement

Leverage AI to scale impact
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI to internal workflows, analysis, and decision-making
  • Prototype lightweight AI-enabled solutions (e.g., research synthesis, reporting, ops tooling)
  • Incorporate AI into your strategic project from scoping through execution

Turn data into decisions
  • Build and refine executive-ready reports used by senior state leaders
  • Analyze customer cohorts and performance metrics to uncover trends and inform strategy
  • Strengthen how Binti measures and communicates outcomes

Build and scale internal capabilities
  • Create playbooks, documentation, and tools that improve how teams operate

Shape the narrative
  • Develop case studies, thought leadership, and materials used in external engagements

Own a high-impact project
  • Design and lead a standalone strategic initiative from scoping through execution
  • Deliver tangible improvements to operations or customer experience

What We're Looking For
For MBA Summer Interns:
  • Currently enrolled in a top MBA program
  • Prior experience in consulting (MBB preferred), tech, investing, or a similarly rigorous role
  • Strong problem structuring, analytical, and communication skills

For Consulting Externs:
  • Currently at Bain, BCG, or McKinsey (or similar)
  • In good standing and approved for externship participation

For both:
  • Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
  • Track record of owning workstreams and driving results
  • Interest in public sector innovation, social impact, or mission-driven technology

Why This Role
In this role, you'll work directly alongside senior leaders (CEO, CTO, COO) - including state agency partners - giving you a front-row seat to the decisions that shape the company's direction. You won't just be observing; you'll have a real voice in influencing priorities across product, strategy, and operations. Most importantly, the work you do will translate into measurable, meaningful improvements in the lives of children and families. And you'll do it all within a collaborative, mission-driven team that's working toward that goal at a national scale.
Details
  • Location: Remote (US-based required) or Hybrid in San Francisco (preferred)
  • Compensation: Competitive
  • Work authorization: Candidates must have independent authorization

  • Sick/mental health time separate from vacation days (accrue up to a cap of 80 hours)
  • 4 weeks of sabbatical after 4 years of service at the company
  • 401k, Commuter benefits, FSA, and DCFSA with administration paid for
  • $5,000 annual bonus for employees who volunteer as a CASA (court-appointed special advocates)
