Job description

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a financial services firm in Phoenix. AZ that is looking for a Cash Applications/Payment Poster to join their team. This is a full-time in office position Monday through Friday $23.00-$26.00 per hour depending on experience.
This role is responsible for accurately posting and applying customer payments, reconciling accounts, researching payment discrepancies, and supporting the overall accounts receivable function. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with ERP systems, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Post and apply customer payments received via ACH, wire transfers, lockbox, credit card, and checks.
  • Match incoming payments to open invoices and customer accounts.
  • Research and resolve unapplied cash, short payments, overpayments, deductions, and discrepancies.
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts to bank deposits and accounting records.
  • Investigate and resolve payment variances with customers and internal departments.
  • Maintain accurate customer account records and payment histories.
  • Process account adjustments, write-offs, credit memos, and refunds as approved.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Receivable, Collections, Customer Service, and Sales teams to resolve payment-related issues.
  • Prepare and analyze reports related to cash application activities and aging balances.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase automation and efficiency within the cash application process.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in Cash Applications, Accounts Receivable, or related accounting functions.
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
