Job description

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring an Outside Sales Associate in Baltimore, Maryland. The Outside Sales Associate is responsible for generating new business, maintaining relationships with existing clients, creating relationships with new customers, and promoting a wide range of rental equipment and solutions to the construction and industrial sectors. Seeking candidates with a minimum one year of experience working in a sales or sales support role; Previous experience in a sales environment, preferred; College degree in a related field, preferred.

Requirements for the Outside Sales Associate position include:

  • Strong understanding of construction project lifestyles and equipment applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Must be self-motivated with a strong drive to succeed and exceed goals.
  • Must be able to manage time effectively and work independently in the field.
  • Must have an excellent driving record.
  • Must be able to function well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Promote a positive customer experience.

Physical requirements must be met for the Outside Sales Associate job, including regularly being required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Starting Compensation Range: $68,000 – $78,000 per year

Actual base salary may vary based on experience, skills, qualifications, education, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations. In addition to base salary, the compensation package may include participation in performance-based incentive programs (e.g., discretionary or non-discretionary plans), as well as overtime eligibility depending on the role.
