Major Duties and Responsibilities
The Network Operations Manager maintains the city's network and related systems. The Network Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Network Operations Division. This includes ensuring key performance indicators are being achieved, such as work order completion, efficient completion time, and customer satisfaction. The Network Operations Manager is expected to design leadership goals for his department and to provide I.T. leadership with strategic initiatives to achieve each year.
  • Carries out managerial and supervisory responsibility, including hiring and training; plans, assigns, and directs work to employees; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Oversees projects to improve the overall network infrastructure and network efficiency for the CCG, including planning, designing, and implementing the project.
  • Oversees adjustments to server or software settings to improve performance.
  • Oversees network software installation on servers; gives access to designated users; maps drives; sets clients up on workstations.
  • Oversees the upgrading and patching of operating systems, virus protection, and network software on all servers and workstations.
  • Oversees the administration of the Hyper-V environment.
  • Oversees the administration of the Office 365 Exchange system.
  • Oversees the administration of Cybersecurity training and simulated phishing tests.
  • Backs up and restores data; schedules and maintains complete restorable backups and information for CCG systems.
  • Collaborates with outside vendors and their requirements to implement applications and hardware on the CCG network.
  • Monitors the DMARC security of the CCG's email domains.
  • Monitors the Azure environment and Azure AD.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of network protocols and network hardware, including how to properly configure the hardware.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles.
  • Knowledge of computer systems.
  • Knowledge of network servers and their software packages.
  • Knowledge of backup hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of the IP telephony system.
  • Knowledge of Windows server services.

Minimum Educational and Training Requirements
Bachelor's in Computer Sciences, Computer Technology, Management Information Systems or related field is required; Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service.
Physical Requirements
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table with intermittent standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee must occasionally lift light and heavy objects, climb ladders, and distinguish between shades of color. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

Retirement Plan
The Columbus Consolidated Government offers a defined benefit retirement plan to eligible employees who work in General Government and in Public Safety. Employees in the pension plan must meet both age and years of service requirements to qualify for retirement. The current vesting period is ten years, and the current pension contribution rate is 8% of your gross salary.
