Network Operations

Primary Responsibilities for Network Operations (NetOps):

a. (U) Have appropriate background knowledge of ICD 503 Security RMF Framework.

b. (U) Create, publish, support implementation, utilize and enforce a Network Support Services (NSS) Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that outlines MID policies and procedures for network operations and maintenance, and establishes a common view of methods used to support the customers environment.

c. (U) Monitor and respond to customer requests received via the NSS central telephone number and the NSS Trouble Ticket Request Form.

d. (U) Manage all MID networks and dedicated network structures located within MID lab environments and facilities, including the following: generation of standard Operating System baseline configurations; maintenance of network diagrams for all MID operational networks; evaluation of existing architectures in conjunction with emerging technologies and recommendations of improved architectures and workstation solutions.

e. (U) Have experience and be proficient in managing networks in a cloud environment to include the operation, configuration, and management of cloud environments.

f. (U) Provide effective and efficient Systems Administration support for all MID networks and laboratory environments, to include: proficiency in configuring and managing servers as domain controllers, file servers and email servers, proficiency in desktop management, configuration and support, establishing and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules; managing MID network email services; creating user accounts and performing system hardware and software diagnostics.

g. (U) Ensure all security relevant policies are enforced and system updates are performed as required.

h. (U) Ensure network supported domain services are properly accredited and maintained per security policy.
