Your Job
Georgia-Pacific's Naheola Paper Mill in Pennington, Alabama is seeking a Learning & Development Area Manager to own the systems and processes that support workforce capability development. This individual contributor role will lead qualification frameworks, learning pathways, training governance, and LMS management to help ensure employees are trained, qualified, and ready to perform their roles safely and effectively.
The ideal candidate combines learning and development expertise with systems thinking, process improvement, and the ability to influence across functions without direct authority.

This role partners closely with operations leaders, subject matter experts, facilitators, and the Learning Experience & Design Manager to create sustainable learning systems and improve workforce readiness.
What You Will Do
  • Own training standards governance, qualification frameworks, learning pathways, role readiness processes, and LMS governance
  • Improve visibility into qualification status, training progress, capability gaps, and readiness risks
  • Align SOPs, standards, qualification requirements, and learning resources to create a seamless employee learning experience
  • Partner with leaders and SMEs to capture, organize, and maintain critical operational knowledge
  • Simplify learning and qualification processes so leaders can execute them consistently
  • Support learning analytics, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Influence stakeholders across the organization to drive adoption and execution
  • Partner with the Learning Experience & Design Manager to ensure content aligns with standards and qualification expectations

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience supporting learning and development, workforce capability, or training programs
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Experience building or maintaining qualification programs, learning pathways, or workforce development systems
  • Experience partnering with business leaders and subject matter experts
  • Experience influencing stakeholders and driving results without direct authority

What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, pulp and paper, or other production environments
  • Experience with training governance, qualification frameworks, or workforce readiness programs
  • Experience with knowledge management, process mapping, or continuous improvement
  • Experience using Power BI or similar reporting and analytics tools
  • Experience translating technical processes into learning and qualification requirements
