Job description

Haddad Plumbing and Heating Inc. is seeking an Assistant Purchaser to join our team at our headquarters in Newark, New Jersey. The Assistant Purchaser will support the Purchasing Manager in sourcing and purchasing materials and equipment required. This role is responsible for assisting with purchase order creation, cost verification, inventory tracking, and vendor coordination to ensure materials are obtained at competitive pricing and delivered on schedule. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within the purchasing function while collaborating closely with internal teams and vendors. The Assistant Purchaser reports to the Purchasing and plays a key role in maintaining purchasing accuracy, material availability, and overall project efficiency.
Responsibilities:
  • Accurately verify incoming and outgoing Purchase Orders and Packing Slips
  • Track and update inventory, ensuring accurate records in Inventory Programs
  • Create purchase orders, track and monitor their status
  • Issue and Verify all Costs of Purchase Orders According to Project Estimates
  • Create and present report on inventory levels, discrepancies, and other relevant data to Purchasing Manager
  • Procure Material and Equipment by Negotiating Cost, Delivery Schedule and Terms with Vendors
  • Follow up with Vendors to ensure timely delivery
  • Participate in Project Meetings to Understand Delivery Schedules
  • Monitor Purchasing Clerk to Ensure work is being Completed Accurately and On Time
  • Meet Daily with Purchasing Manager and Purchasing Clerk to review delivery schedules, open Purchase Orders and other Items Pending
  • Assist with various Purchasing Tasks as requested by Purchasing Manager

Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 Year of experience in purchasing, preferably in the Plumbing and HVAC related industry
  • Exceptional organizational and follow-up skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in excel and MS word
  • Attention to detail
Compensation:
$55,000 - $65,000 Annually
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a Full Time Position. Days and Hours of Work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm. Saturdays 7:00 am - 3:00 pm as Needed.
